    Another perfect day. Except the country is going into drought. But for a city dweller i'm enjoying it!

      Isn't it funny when 7.30am becomes a sleep in ?

      Used to be all day in bed. What a waste. Wish I could have those hours back, I need them now.

      Do you think if you could go back to the moment of taking your first drink, with the knowledge of what is to come, that you would still drink it ? Would we all run a mile, or would the temptation and curiosity still be too great ?

      Must need another coffee.....

          yep!

          I vividly remember my first drink and my first smoke, although I cant remember how close together they were.

          My first drink was at (one of!!) my brother's 21st. Before anyone thought that giving alcohol to under-age drinkers was not a good idea. By the end of the night I had pinched a bottle of bacardi , which I then took to a party the week after. It was how I got popular

          If I knew what I know now, I would have recognised the signs. I see them in my nieces and nephews and I talk to them straight up. We have a history of alcoholism in our family and we are (finally!!) starting to talk about it. I have lost two siblings to it and I dont want any of the next generation to have to battle with it as much as I have.

          I have a niece that recognised the signs early on, and took herself off to rehab and counselling. She stands up proud amongst our family and her work mates and talks about alcoholism and how hard it is to be one. I think being open about this stuff really helps to understand that this is not a moral failure, this is about good people trying their best and needing support. I wish I had her courage and I wish I'd sorted myself earlier!!

                  Don't know whether I can compete with that calibre of social event, but I will be taking these poor cabin - fevered dogs out for a blast along the beach. And I enjoyed yesterday's extreme bush walk so much that I will be stepping up the daily exercise routine. I actually felt the benefits of a hard workout

                    I think I get a fair amount just doing the daily stuff. There's usually huge walks between points A & B and carrying of things and ladder work but I'm buggered if I can do Missy's monumental press-ups.

                        yep, sorry, but that was what brought me to MWO. I was my sister's power of attorney and executor of her will. It meant that I had to confront some really ugly stuff. Stuff that made me wake up ....
