:chef:: OK-No sense me complaining about the cold (I hate it) because it seems a lot of us are in the same boat. So I'm cooking up some chicken breast with grilled camembert and pasta-feck salad or veg-too cold. Warming some French bread in the oven-any reason to heat up the kitchen! and making garlic butter bread. Only a few more weeks till Christmas holidays!!! I am so knackered it is just not possible. Actually almost got into an argument with my new manager (she is ten years younger than me-I know it should not make a difference but a little bitch know-it-all in her twenties --grrr!) at work today! I am usually a VERY meek easy to get along with kinda woman but she just rubs me the wrong way-especially cuz I was so tired. Many teachers who work at my company are married and pretty well off. Their job is kind of like a hobby for them. They live the "expat lifestyle" that is exotic and ..well, whatever. This is not the case for me. I work to pay the bills and put food on the table. She got onto me at the salary meeting because I do not have the "yearly transport pass (bus, train etc) that you can buy for the whole year and it saves you about 30 euros or so. The company rembourses us each month for travel expenses. BUT it costs a few hundred euros (well, 1,200 or so) to buy it for the year! I NEVER have over a thousand euros to throw at something like that on one go. Especially in January right after Christmas. So I do the monthly pass and hope and pray I'll have the money for it! SO... I kinda let her have it and told her SOME OF US are having trouble making it to the end of the month. Like probably most of the feckin population these days. So--came home very cross and now going to eat and hug my kids and go to bed kinda early-but still feeling very wound up. Sorry for venting. expat xxx

:l:l:l God, I'm going on a tangent... Chill-so glad you are safe after the lightening strike on your home! Yes JC-we are SO doing the month to month thing. I just need to calm down and count my blessings-and ignore the Arses who seem to take pleasure playing power games -I HATE THAT! After the kids are in bed I'm going to read back to catch up on things. We are having a wonderful Christmas in our new flat!!! I'm not going to let the stupid --You must buy this or that attitude of the consumer society ruin it for us. The little one is ok. And my teenage daughter might just have to learn the lesson that these are difficult times. Hanging in there.
