I'v been a naughty little elf...

I started wrapping Christmas presents today. With the same boring paper as the last 5 years. And the same boring sticky tag as as the last... however many years. (Not sure, but it could have been one of THOSE e-bay purchases... 14 cubic kilometers of wrapping paper and 5000 sticky tags.)

Sooo.. this year I I decided to have some fun with it. Went and found old appliance boxes, etc... took apart everything that can be taken apart and wrapping it all separately, in ridiculously large boxes.. or boxes in boxes, or bags in boxes.. and made up a lovely list of names to fill in the 'from' part.

So, we'll have presents from Edwina, Solomon, Yussef, Mortimer, and others under the tree this year :H

      My dear Sunshine,
I'm recycling all the christmassy carry bags that people put their gifts in for me last year and the yearbefore. Just hope I mixed them up enough so they don't get the same one back. And a friend and I have a comp. going to see how long the cardboard mailing carton will last out.... it's done probably 40,000 kilometres and been round Australia several times!

I was actually thinking it would be kinda fun, too.. to let's say wrap a present for Dave.. then put it in a bigger box and wrap it with a label for John.. put in in a bigger box, wrap and label for Steve...

                Maybe next year...

Sun (G), you know I love you and your wickedness!! This is so great to share. One year, when my kids were older and I didn't want to wrap all the 'Santa' gifts, I wrapped the doors to the room with the tree. Both kids had to 'open' the doors to get in to find their presents.
This year, especially, with the economy so tight, and my grands getting older, I've tried to think of each personality, suit each one to the smaller gifts they will get. I want their memories to be about the day, the event, and not about getting a crapload of gifts they will forget/not use/never play with, in a week.
My parents WERE Christmas in our family, and they've been gone over 10 years. It's been hard to deal with for me, but when I really think about what they gave us, I see SO much love, SO much thought. My favorite memory, in the early 90's, was when my Daddy received an INSANE goat, with a big red ribbon, who was led right into their formal living room. Second is the pictures of all the grands getting a (sometimes forced) ride on Daddy's new cow, complete with ribbons!!
                  Thank you, love!!
