What's everyone doing New Years Eve?

WELL DONE Chill on one year - that is indeed momentous for you - as for what you do, that is something only you can decide - as for me, I will be sound asleep by midnight - and I will be wearing jammies - or equivalent!!

    Hugs, Sun xx

Me too, Mario. That's what grandparents do, right? Chill-I am also soooooo very happy for you that your one year anniversary is almost here. You should be very proud of yourself.

I think I'm having more fun reading about what everyone's doing that I will on NYE! :H:H

Actually, my husband and I have a little place on the beach in the panhandle and we've decided to go hang out there for 4 days. I can't wait. We'll probably be out walking around that evening and listening to local music and watch some fireworks. I really don't feel the slightest desire to drink as NYE has never been a big thing for me either. I'm just happy to have made it through Christmas with only minor injuries. Thanks to you all!

        :thanks:

Our town has a "First Night" which is outside and does not involve drinking, however all the restaurants and pubs are lined on the street, which many friends will be in. Not sure if I am going because I'm only on Day 5 and this is sad, but to be honest I can't find anyone that wants to have a non-Al night. All my friends are going to a big party, but it would be too much for me so early on.

Congrats Chill on your year! You are an inspiration for me!

I will be home with the little one's. They want to try to stay up. I think I've only been awake at midnight on NYE a handful of times so we'll see how it goes. I am looking forward to the New Year and with what it offers.

Hey! First, congrats on being a year sober. That is truely fantastic. It seems that as i get older, me and all my friends seemed to have 'grown up' and left the whole party secene. We've all got familys, jobs ect ect so partying no longer really happens. Most years i invite my close friends over, we play games watch tv, fireworks ect ect. Sadly this year, one of my friends is preggies and can't stay up, another is working early the next day and 2 are on holiday SO i may take my family to milton kynes and spend the new year with my bro altho his wife is also preggies and said she'll just leave us to it so we'll see. No matter what, i'm spending it with the ones i love and i'll be sober!

I got a gift certificate to a fancy-shmancy restaurant a few towns over. My fiance and I are having an early dinner there and coming home to a blessedly kid-free house (my brood will be with their dad, his will be out with friends). We're hoping for an early bedtime, if you know what I mean. :ey: New Year's Day we're hosting an open house in the afternoon/evening. You're all invited!

I will be wearing something with an elastic waistband.

Chill, very excited for your anniversary and will be thinking of you New Year's Eve!:l

                xoxo Pride

                  Hi Chillgirl,

One year is such a great milestone and gives me hope it can be done!
No parties this year, I'll be at day 5 or 6 so it'll be quiet and nice waking on the 1st feeling great. It's finally going to be warm enough here I might go for a long run.

I'll be eating good food and watching movies at home.

I also get nervous about being around all the drink as it is only just 3 weeks AF for me and I am a bit of a sap when it comes to peer pressure and drinking. Plus I used to love Champagne...

Come the 1st though I will be proud and probably pounding the pavements in my new running shoes listening to my new music on my ipod

Love Nina Simone, Reggie ("Sugar in My Bowl"). For those going the quiet, introspective route Friday night--I listened to this a lot, the first few weeks:

:thanks:As usual I can rely on all you MWO-ers to set my head straight

As soon as your replies started I realized that what I REALLY want to do on New Years Eve is stay home! The stupid thoughts of being with a crowd at a party were a throw back to my drinking days when I believed that was the only way to celebrate. Most of you lovely people have fantastic & inspirational plans because you are no longer under the alcoholic illusion of what constitutes a good time.

Behind so many of these party smiles will be lonely unhappy people yet to find their way out. I know cause I use to be one of them!
Im proud of being sober and need to get used to not having to apologize for being different to many of my friends.

Being cosy at home with good food and a good movie or listening to inspiring music sounds just perfect not to mention being able to check in here!
I still love the feeling of waking up hangover free and so doing this 1st Jan will be extra special as 1st Jan 2010 was my last hangover!!!

Please hold the congrats though, I still have 3 days to stay AF

You put the song in my head... I started singing it (don't laugh too loud) in the car on our way home. Now Mr.s T and the cubette are both humming it the whole time. I'll need to put a Nina Simone CD on.
                                I'll do whatever it takes
