What's everyone doing New Years Eve?

    Great post, Chilli :l

The wonderful thing is that it is entirely possible to settle into this new lifestyle with comfort. I was just thinking about it: all the people who are coming here on Friday are really good friends and all of them know that I've stopped drinking. One of them is an ex-alkie himself - I just didn't realise it when I 1st met him.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that we don't have to live in shame for ever and a day, if that makes sense?
    I'll do whatever it takes

Tip - I know EXACTLY what you mean, what I felt when I read all your posts was "here is a bunch of people who are comfortable in their own skin". I actually think sobriety gives us a gift that other people dont get, we know only too well how guilt, shame and emptiness feels. So when we break free we somehow have an appreciation of life thats extra special.....

Pride - I hadnt heard this song before and I love it! Its beautiful.

Behind so many of these party smiles will be lonely unhappy people yet to find their way out. I know cause I use to be one of them!

You are so right Chill! We're the ones really having a good time, now. It really doesn't matter what we do, it's so much better when we're sober. :l

Small BBQ at a friend's home, good wholesome food with some nice, calm people who don't relish the limelight, and are looking forward to some good wholesome food.

:H:H I can completely relate. The one issue I'm having is visualizing myself staying awake until midnight...!!

Spot on Chilli. Absolutely spot on. A gift is what it is, and we should take it!

Bridget, it IS all about us in these situation's. It has to be. We must have an exit plan, and be in control of our travel arrangement's/arrival/departure times, etc. If we're starting to feel a bit too anxious, or bored, then we can just get out of there. And if we're enjoying ourselves immensely, that's great too.

I'm going to have a great time! (with my exit plan at the ready if need be of course)
