Expat - so sorry you have that crap happening. Maybe when you speak to your brother he wlil tell you - you are his sister and I bet he knows you know anyway. You may not have to say anything. So very sad. Sending thoughts and prayers your way.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will ring him. And just pretend I don't know anything-and then if he wants to talk --he can. I'll probably wait a bit though so I can calm down and sound natural. I hate to be "sneaky" about this but it is a difficult situation. By the way, sorry to be so self-absorbed. I am reading over the other posts too! Just needed to get that off my chest. JC :l. I am sorry for your loss-it is always sad to lose someone who was so part of our lives-even though they are elderly and maybe it was their "time". I remember a quote from an Agatha Christie novel where there is an old lady that has just lost her last friend of her age and she says something like "She was the last one who knew me as a girl" :upset: Not trying to say you are an old lady JC:H but I mean the experiences we have shared with certain people are so precious. We do have the memories though-and they stay with us forever.:l

Expat - Bloody hell, I agree f**king booze trashes lives!
I dont know how close you are to your brother or how open he would be to discussing it with you.
I agree with Bets that if you would normally call him, then do. It gives him an opportunity to confide in you.

                Hiya, Army

                JC - big hugs :l

Expat: I had a similar situation with my brother (my SIL ended up in rehab over sleepnig pills. She used to just disappear for days one end, faked prescriptions for more pills, was pregnant while popping etc. etc. etc.).

In my case, I just phoned him as usual (had also been sworn to silence by my mum) and made sure that the opportunity to talk was there. He eventually opened up by himself and we had some good chats about it.

                Good luck - it's a tough one :l
                I'll do whatever it takes

OK-made a short comment -that is all I felt I could do at the moment. Chill-thanks for giving the idea about changing the title of a certain thread. I found it rather troubling also.We are off for an invigorating walk in the wood to feed the ducks and those other animals we saw yesterday. laters-expat xxx

I'm waiting for her to ring. She's known that NDG (next door grandma) has been poorly for a long time and knows all about dementia/alzeimers as my mum had it.

I wouldn't let a dog go through that (sorry if that sounds a bit harsh)
