Morning Missy and all to come,
Geez youse sporting types are putting me to shame with all your swimming, skiing, diving, cycling, running, gyming ... I don't even do knitting ***sob***
Wavey - how about you post on a daily basis? Get to know our posting patterns? There's very few of us up after 10.30ish - except of course the WA girls. For me, regular posting deals with more than the Al issues - I get inspired by what everyone's doing; I love googling the places/things they mention and find that I can spend many pleasant hours occupying myself without getting pissed. I think you've mentioned boredom being a trigger for you in the past. Did you keep going with the Japanese studies? Buddhism? Are you surfing? How's your new garden going? How are your fish?
I put down a new shag pile rug yesterday. The cats are gingerly walking on it like they've got chewing gum stuck to their paws.
Off into the day - and it looks like a ripper!

So is it selfish or kind of me to do it?
I'm thinking perhaps leave it a couple of years.
And maybe substitute bt volunteering at the local pound.
But my very first job leaving school was vet nurse. I'd come home in tears so often.
But hey! I'm older and tougher now.... on the outside.
And on a completely different topic.. I screwed up coming to the surface diving to-day and my computerised regulator told me I'm in decompression for the next 48 hours...... bugger.
But my instructor (after giving me a discreet talking to) reset my regulator and I'm OK to dive tomorrow, as it only happened at 11 metres underwater, but he has insisted I put forward my nitrox course to some time in the next 3 weeks.
As he said.."you're a bit older, a bit less active and a bit more unfit (how sweet and tactful), so you need to be able to handle yourself better."
That was just after the blast on read and do what your regulator says. A good lesson well learned .
My cousin, an experienced diver suffered the bends and was in and out of a decompression chamber for months. He still has to have check ups every few months and cant drink or dive again. Not so bad about the not drinking bit as he was a very heavy drinker anyway, so that has served him well. They say he still has a few bubbles inhis brain and watch it closelyI am a part of the family of humanity. Not one person on this earth is a stranger to me. Rev. Ted Noffs

I Wish everyone a most magnificent and sober New Year..
I am in a different place to where I have ever been before.
I've known that I have had a drinking problem for years and have had some really good half arsed attempts at sorting it out..
I have also stopped feeling sorry for myself and realised that it's all self imposed (Bridge will like that!)
I'm over being a piss weak addict, it's bullshit, it's stopping me doing what I want to do and has done so for years..
I want my life back really badly.
I am going to need your help, if you are up for giving it.
Might include talking on the phone, for anyone who is up for it...
Had to change my user name as I have changed internet provider.

Go for it big fella.
Best decision you've ever made.If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning all,
Up at the crack of dawn letting Lucy out to do wizzers. She spent the night alternating between her new pink and purple bed and my bed. She is an absolute joy and is so excited about her new home. I have had a resident wallaby living in my backyard, happily munching on the fallen fruit. Alas it is not there anymore as Lucy chased it into a corner and Rowan had to rescue it from her....she didnt hurt it just rounded it up. She is a pint sized little warrior so will have to be vigilant with her around the native animals here. Saffy didnt give them the time of day and they happily muched away with her in very close proximity.
I'm starting to doubt the validity of her age. There is no way a dog of 13 could be as spritely and energetic as her. Will take her to my own vet to get his opinion. She has helped to fill a massive hole in my heart left by Saff and I think that from now on, I will be taking in the pensioner doggies to care for in their last days.
I'm off to take her for her first walk although its wet here today. Then home to hurl myself on the exercise bike etc. as I havent done anything regular for flamin ages.
Going shopping tomoz as the job agency that I was with have given me a $500.00 clothing allowance. Can you believe that?????? Apparently this is what they regularly do with job seekers....you know what we live in a fabulous country...there is opportunity at every turn.....grateful grateful grateful. I feel a tad guilty about this as I have enough clothes to clothe a third world country but I will compensate by getting into these and taking them to the Salvos....does this make it o.k.? Should I tell the job agency not to give me money?? Moral dilemma here...need guidance.

Hi Sapph,
Thanks for the warning. I didn't do my 3 metre stop as the instructor was dealing with another diver who had run out of air.... I was behind and rushed to catch up.... and didn't look at my regulator which was beeping at me telling me to do my 3 min stop.
Didn't dive this morning... got out there and it was rough, so they decided to go to a place called Bushrangers Bay, which was lovely and calm, but to access it you have to go down, then worse, up, a zillion steps. I'm not fit enough yet to handle that so opted out.
So, just made a mango smoothie, catching up on posts, then off to Curves for my very first session!
Managed to lose 10 kg for the Africa jaunt, want to lose a further 10 by mid Feb so I can swoosh down the ski slopes... and look good for Techie. (Don't tell him I said that... keep it an Undies secret)
Hi Bridge. Did Steve Dillon or any of the Yallah crew take you to a viewing of the lantana and bitou at Bushrangers?
Vigneron: You're close Sapphie, it's on the grape vinegar trail.... no more clues, but I used to get stuck into their produce quite a bit... in fact every bloody evening, for over 30 years!!
