Biz, I am so sorry our children have to go through so much turmoil growing up and we as parents suffer with them. I do hope she feels better. Fennel, so good to see you. Ruby, bless your heart for caring enough about all of us that you went back and read all our post. You are such a sweetheart and we all love you so very much. Well, I feel like a complete failure. I don't know how anybody goes cold turkey off cigerettes. I have been fighting the cravings all day and given in a few times. Actually, I want to go in there and smoke 5 packs tonight! Ugh... I've waited on Paul all day and it was a fulltime job, hardly got anything else done! I pray he can walk tomorrow, otherwise this smoking effort is going to get the best of me. Does anyone know HOW to quit when your body is screaming for a cigerette? I love you all very much and hope you have a good night. Love, Vicki

ok what a great day got solar work done and just playing with the fireplace //grill and its hard work trying to get everything strait and leveland even.. but its turning out and so up tomorrow start the next layers of bric and and arch and then cleaning it up and just letting it sit there for the next three weeks and cure but anyway ..
panno congrats .. biz sorry to hear about your daughter work with her and let her drive around with you in the car ..
and well looks like everyone is doing great keep it going love and hugs

Vicki - have you read the Alan Carr book on How to Quit smoking? I found it to be really good - he changes your mindset. It might be worth you buying it....just a thought.

Vicki, both my niece and a friend of mine quit with the assistance of chantix. Is there any way you could try that?


Biz, it must be so hard to be in your shoes right now. As difficult as it sounds, you must get your girl behind the wheel again. Even if you have to take her to an empty parking lot on a Sunday. Take the next six months to go through the rules of the road again. Six months may bring her some confidence. It's not terrible if she doesn't get her license until she's seventeen. It will be bad if she develops a full -blown phobia ...hang in there. :l

Hi to all and thank you for all the encouraging supportive thoughts. Day four and I am still AF. I am tired though. Been having strange dreams.
So do you guys get together at some reunion? Vicki maybe you should journal and chart the amount you are smoking pairing it with behaviors/situations that trigger a light up. Sounds like you have had less cigarettes in the last 3/4 days than you use to have in half a day. That's progress. Remember baby steps sometimes are the surest way to arrive at a goal.

Well, Panno's grandbaby is Beautiful. Bizman, perhaps a driver ed instructor might be the next step. Look into it and find someone who has a phenomenal reputation. They are pro's and have dealth with this time and again. It's not a horse like she fell or got thrown and needs to get right back up again. Test anxiety can be a real thing to many people. A little is actually considered good; trouble is some people stress so much and then they turn into popsicles and can't function!
Off to bed it is so cold here tonight.

I'm here, but falling down on my feet! :H Going to bed in a minute, and while I sit there, for a while, I work on repairing one of the many antique quilts I've been blessed with.
Biz, when I took our son for his test (and he'd had years of practice with us and my Daddy), I tried to tell him the importance of the written test. He blew me off, saying 'everyone' had told him it was just common sense. Well, he quicly understood what I'd been saying, and took FOREVER to finish it. Turns out, a lovely girl he knew was there getting her first license, and he waited till she was finished to finish his, terrified he would fail in front of her! :H He now also has his CDL, allowing him to operate large equipment and trucks, but I'll never forget him getting in the car that day, saying 'Just don't say it Momma. You were right!! :H
My, New, SO great to have you both with us. We all absolutely LOVE to have people join us. Jump in and participate in our madness.
Need to go lay down my tired head. Thank you all for your messages, calls, concern. All I really need is a week or so at the cabin. And New, I'm trying to get everyone to join in for a meet in June, at my N. Georgia cabin. Camping, a stream, tons of area spots to visit. Hope you can join!

Bird - good morning to you when you get here! Chilly (putting it mildly!!) here this morning! Jan - you were late again last night - what are your new hours?? Sounds like a really long day for you. You will end up getting sick again! Ruby - great to have you back and in fine form too - you were missed! Fennel - hi there - nice to see you here and I agree - 17 is a better age to get a license anyway!

I want my morning cuppa and have fasting blood work so can't have it. And of course 'cos I can't have it I want it EVEN MORE. I plan on getting to the lab at 7.00 but that is still 1 1/2 hours away yet. BIG GROAN. N-e-e-d my cup of tea! Stop whingeing Sun. Okay - need to go and sort dogs. I just remembered something, Vicki! Get some cherries or cherry juice -it's reputed to dissolve the painful uric acid crystals in the joints and tissues of gout sufferers. Dr. Gott posts it in his column frequently.
