Not sure how many days but it will be 9 months on december 17th. I honestly could never fathom being al free this long when i started. I knew i had to stop and after 10 years of daily drinking i knew something had to change. This website and smart recovery made the difference. I dont post much but i read everyday to stay on track. Yesterday my boss tried to get me to go drinking with the office. I told him i could not drink but he insisted he was going to buy me a shot. Well i lied and said i would meet them but 5 minutes after they left for the bar i texted them and said i could not make it. Yeah he may not like it but i value my sobriety more than anything. No one is going to take that from me.
AL free since March 17th 2011...loving this life. No drinking no matter what.

Hi my name is Lori and i am so happy to be here.

            Hey Red

Good for you! I assume this person doesn't know
of your struggle. Bit it is everywhere-people want
you to drink for various reasons.
You sound like me, in the sense that agrees years
of drinking something "clicked" and you knew you
had to stop. Nine months is wonderful-good for
            you!
I love your comment that nobody is going to take
your sobriety away from you. Exactly how I feel
when I have to do corporate stuff and everyone
is drinking. None for me thanks! I don't care what
anyone thinks, or says at all. I'm on the mend
and happy about it. After all I don't have to look
those people in the eye every morning.

And with that mind set, you will fail. You can make it past five days AF!

I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

It is Day 6 AF for me!

Alot of you may know by now that I was up to a gallon of rum a day for over a year, I like to say this to the people who read this and are trying to quit, I went from drinking beer around 12 a day to a gallon of rum. Finally when I stopped I could hardly stand up , I was shaking and sweating, no appetetite, Now Day 6 , the holidays are near, the cravings are big time since I hear everyone getting ready for their egg nog recipes. So its easy to let alcohol get to you, it did to me. Now i tryed to watch the documentary on youtube "Rain in my heart" very powerful documentary about alcoholism. I never made it past the young man with yellow eyes. I will as i still am in withdrawls at day 6 watch the whole documentary. And also thanks to everyone on here who provides support. What a great place to be!

Only day 3 for me and my first time on this thread. I feel happy and energetic but so very afraid I'm going to slip and for me, it only takes one. This board is so inspiring and helpful. So glad you're all here -- good to know I'm not alone and good to see you all clicking those days off.
