Geez Aspy - that would have been a worrying time. So glad you handled it sober and WELCOME to the Special World of ***CHOOKS ***

From what I'm hearing now, it looks like Cairns is likely to get clobbered. I'll be watching out for Palm Cove, a special place for me.

    Techie - you're inbloodycorrigible.

Aspy you are a bloody trouper.
Even with chemical help, I don't know whether I could handle that one sober.
Then again, you'd be 'deserting' your fam if you did.
You are a hell of a big man young Aspy.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

            Hey Mr G

I LOVE your idea about the blog spot, and would love to be a contributer when I'm a bit further along the road.
Particularly impressed with the idea of a men's health forum. There's not nearly enough out there for our fellas in that way.

            I'm really proud of you.
And this from a man who only just learned to use emoticons :H

A bit weary after a long and busy day .......

Aspy :l That's a hard thing to go through. Its good that you kept hounding them!!

Mr G - I think the blog idea is a fab one for two reasons. Like Bridge says, there isn't enough stuff on men's health. And I think a lot of blokes find it hard to talk about a lot of stuff related to their health and keep up the image of the strong silent types - is this an Aussie/NZ trait?????? Putting something out there for them that they can read and help them find a way through whatever issues they are facing is a great idea.

Secondly, I think that hearing some positive messages from people who have come out the other end and who have re-claimed their lives like you have is really empowering for people. I dont know what AA is like in Oz, but when I was going to it here I found it very dire - there was a bit of a culture of people talking about their old drinking stories and all the dreadful things they had done while boozed (and sometimes even a bit of a competitive streak to it - as in: my rock bottom was worse than yours). Hearing that recovery is possible and that we can create our own futures without the grog is a good thing and a reason why I keep hanging out here every day!!!

I'm having an early night - have to be at the airport at 6am :upset: Catch ya when I can find a free wi-fi connection!
Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

:H Thank's Bridge. I would love for you to contribute whenever you felt like it. I want it to be for everyone, with a focus on recovery, and what it takes, etc, though 'what it takes' can be different for all of us, but there are some universal fundamental's that we have to tackle, like ACTION, and i've got to work out how to have a men's health focus too, without making it a men only feel to it. :goodjob: :thanks: :new:

Appreciate your thought's Missy, thank's. I want to be able to provide an AL recovery place, with stuff on men's health, but without alienating women. But maybe the fact men's health is also womens/the community's business, i can find a balance?

G - I think your website sounds great, I think it will be helpful for fellow pissheads, it'll help get the music out there & you sound inspired to do it, which is good enough reason I say. Although I can't imagine how a meeting with the child phsychs would be hot...but hey, go for a coffee afterwards - you would prolly get into some really deep & meaningful conversation - now that's hot.

It's gonna be a sweaty 42 here today, my co-worker can't make it onto site until 11am - out in western Sydney where it'll be about 47...I said no, it'll have to wait until tomorrow..can't have me ballet slippers getting all sweaty.

Ah thank's Grinder. Hope you're cooler tomorrow.

been kinda stressed latly, our little girl had a health scare. she was born with a droopy eye, which has improved but we pushed for a referal. the gp's wanted to wait but we persisted.
long story short, after an amergency mri she has a damaged nerve leading to her neck. she cant dialate one eye, so low vission in low light and glassed expected.better thean the other prognossis of brain tumors/lung tumors.

all swell now, still no beers, but did think on it...
I hope your daughter is going to be okay Aspy. Good stuff on staying off the turp's. You would be no good to your daughter and your family if you were on it, as you know. Never forget where a drink can take us. I find it's important to alway's be moving forward in our recovery, nothing overwhelming, but just being mindful of who we really are, where we've been, and where we want to be, and are. A bit of regular meditative sort of reflection on how far we've come is a really helpful and positive thing to do i reckon.

Best wishes everyone. I love youse all! xx

Monster cyclone on track for Qld coast | News | NT News | Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia | ntnews.com.au

Just checked out the cyclone update for Queensland. This is just so very scary. Australia certainly has had a difficult time lately. First floods and now this. My thoughts and prayers are again with our Undie friends.

For the Overies, like myself, who don't know about cyclones and such - a category 4 cyclone has winds of up to 279km an hour and can cause ocean swells of up to 5.4 metres. Hopefully they will have time to evacuate as many people as possible to safe areas on high ground.

And if that's not enough - I just came across this as well...

World News Australia - Crews will fight Sydney blaze all night

I see that fire bans are in place in several areas and Illawarra is one of them. Rags, hope all is well in your area.
