        They might have generators - I don't know. They might have torches. It would still be bloody horrible. God, this makes me feel so sick.

        I just went for a walk. It's an absolutely gorgeous, calm, balmy night with a brilliant night sky, millions of stars and not a cloud ... go figure.

              There can't be bad weather everywhere Tawny. You got your share of bad weather just a short while ago. If I'm not wrong, your house flooded twice over the last year. Okay, your place wasn't destroyed but what happened was downright shite and if I'm not mistaken, you were all alone and freaked out a bit during the first flood.

                  Torches is what I meant when I said flashlights. That's what we Canucks call them.

                  Ditto for what you said about Tawny's weather. If I'm not mistaken, there were a some trees lost and a lot of broken wood and such to be cleared up from the fence-lines.

                        Plus the noise from the wind and rain will be terribly loud. I will be more than a nightmare. I read that some families elected to stay in their homes and ride it out there. Someone said his worse fear was that the roof would blow off his house. Can't imagine going through something like that.

                          The fear would be overwhelming I would imagine, and trying to protect and comfort your children and tell them that everything will be ok....

                            Yes, that is the worst thing - fearing what will happen and what they will see when it finally blows over and they can go outside. I took a "street view" walk through a very small portion of the 9th ward of New Orleans earlier today. It was one of the areas most damaged by hurricane Katrina. The streets that I walked down were deserted except for maybe two or three cars and the one was parked in front of a house trailer on a lot where I expect a house used to be. The rest of the houses are still boarded up and empty. The damage was so great that the people don't have the means to repair them or they can't be repaired. Even after all this time, it's still like a ghost town and lord knows where those poor people are now. It's heartbreaking when something like that happens.

                                Anna Bligh warned them earlier today that when the eye passes over, that things will be very calm but it's not okay for anyone to go outside since it will pass rather quickly and the storm will be back with the same strength as before. Hopefully everyone knows that and will stay inside. Just now saw this...
