Latest on North Qld. Next few hours will be telling.

Thank God it's been downgraded to a Cat 3 overnight.

Read that link already, Bridge. Ditto about the downgrading. I can't imagine what they will wake up to in just a while. If they got any sleep at all with the horrendous noise the cyclone causes. Now 5:45 am in Cairns. Hope that the damage is less than expected.

I've just been watching the early morning news.

The good news is that despite the devastation, there does not appear to be any loss of life. Thank god for good civil defense planning.

Although the worst seems to be over, conditions are still dangerous.

I'm going hori for a while.

                Be well and be grateful.

You know just to put a perspective on this, at least we have no fatalities (yet). As opposed to Egypt today and I would hazzard that that's a conservative estimate.
Still, won't make Queenslanders feel any better.

Yeah Bridge. And we didn't even mention the 600 Brazilian flood victims....

Geez - I better get into some serious physical stuff to slow down the brain. I have a big digging project ahead. If you want a laugh, go to Bunnings or similar, grab the youngest sales boy you can find and ask him "Can you show me your .verhard .asyflow™?

It's an onterlocking drainage system which I hope will alleviate my water probs if/when they recur.

Wish I could be of more help to you re drainage issues. It's be 'nice' to go into the next storm event a bit more confidently.

What a bad time and a sad board today.

What has scared me most about the recent devastation would be having to start life again. Some of these people are going to be left with nothing - no furniture, clothes, toys. I don't mean to sound materialistic but it must be so heartbreaking to lose everything you have worked for over the years. I'm just looking around me now and thinking "where would I even start if all this was gone?"

                              hi everyone.
not meaning to stick-head-in-sand or undermine various disasters, i'll choose not to talk about them for now.
the last of the slugs went yesty & from the report this a.m will make a fine cattle dog.
having hastily sterilised mummy about 2 weeks ago, i'm now wishing i hadn't!!! sort of missing the patter of little paws & the various rough 'n' tumble play times. one didn't need television when the pups are at play.
orf to Perth tomoz for pre-op appt & haircut & SHOPPING. yay. actually going out to a nice Korean BBQ restaurant also Sat night....oh, restaurants, heaven.
having purchased a pedometer, & just doing my daily routine, i realised i walked 2.5kms yesty - & that's not even going FOR a walk with the dogs! wow! shouldn't take much more effort to get up to my 5km target per day, partic as i'm not horseriding atm. so the Goldy is ecstatic as walking human much more exciting than human on horse.
weather here is ironically beautiful. seems the worse the other side of the continent cops it, we seem to get nicer. without going "there", it does make me grateful to have what we do in this whole State (even tho poor Carnarvon copped it a fe weeks ago). relatively speaking, we are indeed a lucky country & thank goodness we can wake up each day without civil unrest happening.
what else on my y-front? (itsallaboutmestill.com).....
nothing much.Febfasting along ok but will see what the weekend brings. going to try some fairly strong determination & keeping the goal in mind & the real short term aspiration of being healthy so they don't open me up to find a soggy liver! gawd that'd be embarassing.
ok orf now to do another short walk, the blokes are cutting up some yummy lambs we killed yesty (sorry vegetarians!!!) so fresh meat for dinner. me thinks lamb loin chops on the barbie lightly seasoned & drizzled with evoo, fresh beetroot in cumin yoghurt, garden salad, & sliced spuds on the barbie also. quintessential aussie summer tucker. which makes me again grateful in huge quantities for having a fridge for the food, power for the fridge, house for power & fridge, barbie, patio to enjoy barbie food, dry land ( albeit very feckin dry) to walk dogs, & roads to travel to Perth to, & restaurants to go to, & all those things that not only Qld/NSW/Vic may have underwater, but overseas in certain areas they are an afterthought to merely surviving the next day.
so very very sad for the world. like said earlier, the planet.it's inhabitants in all forms.
it does MY head in too to think about it.
even though i'm not religious at all, i've got to thanks some Force/Higher Power/God/whatever for all that i've got right now.:thanks: & i'm not being facetious.
will check in later for another prolonged dribble.

Good morning from UAE. I can't wait to get out of here. Things did not go well with the disaster recovery. I'm pissed off, my boss is pissed off, the client(s) are pissed off. Considering everything going wrong in the world right now it seems par for the course. Hope you are all OK!? Queenslanders are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm off to work!
