Evening et al, (my new word of the day)
Don't be feeling bad about having a laugh at my expense underoonies, it was my entire intention! I must admit my delivery was way better in the bigger version of the post i lost last night... but still I had to try again this morning. Ahhhh nothing better than venting frustrations with derisive humour at oneself. I did see the funny side the entire time and also quite enjoyed myself as a result... and YES! BEST WORKOUT EVER!! (except i can barely walk at all now after a day at the orifice
I forgot to mention... at one point whilst dragging evil trolly across a bit of grassy gumtree expanse I got a branch stuck in the wheels. Trying to pull it out I also managed to cut my thumb so by the time I got back to the carpark I had a bloodsoaked t-shirt to add to the ensemble.
Ahh so glad I brought a smile here and there dearies!
Guess the universe is determined that I SHALL GET FIT SOMEHOW!

OMG Cant wait to try the brain thing! Bet Ill Shine at that!!!! (NOT)

BTW Tawny, I can be competitive also... I think this might have more to do with why I am so sore... the shopping trolley was on top of this other thing I did on Sunday. It may be comparable to your trench?

When I first moved here 3 years ago, this area (front boundary) was a wasteland with the homy feature of 3 termite mound looking thingys (red clay mounds). On closer inspection they turned out to be garbage dumps (full of old boots, beer bottles, bits of metal, old cushions, paint tins, well aged bags of garbage and other indescribable things with red clay on top.

I've been working on it a long while, digging it over with cowpoo etc, raised tubestock for ages, transplanting into bigger pots over time then finally planting over last two years but a lot of the plants seem to have died in last lot of drought/frost/drought, then with all the rain it became overgrown with weeds but most of the plants came back

This was my little reward/celebration of their revival to give them a makeover. They are agapanthus in front, trees & hedgeplants down the middle with roses & iris on the house side ... just need more mulch!

That's great, Ficks! What are the trees? The one at the very bottom looks like a C. pistachio?

Bloody hard work but doesn't it feel good though?

Roightyoh - way past my bedtime. Nighters all. May all your dreams be uninterrupted.

                    Sorry I missed you G,

Tawny, ahhhhhhhhhhhm that is an Um Tree. To the left of the shot was/is a 3-4 metre tall Hawthorne monstrosity infested with passionfruit vine (the things the tiny birdies love to tweet in). We gave it a haircut so its leaves are now about 2m off the ground (long time back I mentioned I could not bear to lose the birdies outside my bedroom window as they gave me reason to live). That little Um tree was a tiny little sprite we found in the undergrowth. Is doing much better now with the light. I have another bigger Um tree on the property.. which is how I recognised the little one. Might try to get it identifed. I plan to remove the hawthorne altogether once the little trees grow a bit more. Lots of tiny birds appreciate it though.. I often come out and find families of teeny superb blue wrens with their jenny wrens all frolicking about and having heated arguments. There are also silvereyes and heaps of other tiny ones I don't know. All the trees/shrubs I planted are natives with bird/bee/butterfly attracting qualities with the exception of a couple of 'Chilean Guava' bushes that are not doing very well. A neighbour up the path there has bee boxes.

The whole place was gigantically overgrown when we bought it so I felt really bad about removing the bird haven of pestilential plants. It was a mixture of 3-4m high privet, dog rose, vinca, wisteria, passionfruit, honeysuckle, fruit trees gone ape and um... tonnes and tonnes of garbage and associated vermin. (think I counted nearly 30 rat nests I removed from one particularly long fenceline including at least two petrified rats). I also have a powerpole near the house where the wisteria had reached the powerlines! Gosh I won't even mention the number of car parts and beer bottles discovered in the undergrowth.

Ahhh we've come a long way from the early days when I sat on the front step with my cuppa and had a rat run past my nose on it's way into the roof!

OK, that's enough boasting for now. One thing I've learned from my Underoo friends is that it's far better to focus on the things we do well than the things we fail at. CELEBRATE THOSE THINGS!

One way of recognising the reptilian brain's voice is when I find myself beating myself up over even the tiniest of things AND then let them snowball. I need to spend more time reflecting on achievements rather than freaking out about the enormity of the things I have yet to do. Plus, I need to note how so many people have worked so hard and achieved everything they ever wanted, only to have lost it all overnight. That gives me the perspective that getting too driven about the future (to the point of ignoring the present) is rediculous and leads to perpetual unhappiness. So I should feel humbleness and gratitude... and more patience! And I do.

Anyhoo, yada yada, (hops off whimsical soapbox quickly realising cake may have inadvertently been left out in the rain) nightski
