    I must have this all wrong. I thought Missy was in Wellington - quite a way from Chch - or are you saying you can feel it as far up as Wellington? Shit.

              Hard to explain this without providing a stage 2 lecture in rock formations and fault lines. How much damage is done in an earthquake depends on where the epicenter is, how deep the fault is, the surrounding rock formations, and the basic infrastructure surrounding where it has hit.

              Today's one here: epicenter in an area where there hasn't been a previously known fault, fault was really shallow, with sedimentary rock, and in an area where structures had been weakened by the earthquake six months ago.

              ChCh is being evacuated. We have offered our house for people whose rellies are being transferred to Wellington hospital specialist facilities. We have been hearing helicopters overhead for the last hour as they bring people in as we live only about 1km from the hospital

                        evening all.

                        back from self imposed exhaustion exhile. Missed yas like mad. Bloody hell this earthquake stuff is just horrendous!!!!!! I cant bear to watch it anymore tonight....too sad...too terryfying. Looks like folks have been cracking up somethin awful since my last swing by. Beags I hope you are well and truly on the mend my lovely. Bridge, hows your dear mum? Reggie baby, is Mrs. Reggie still poorly. I think I read somewhere that Mishs mum is crook as well.                               I was glad to get away from the news to go to college. I switched on as soon as I read about it on here and left the TV on all afternoon.
