Bridge - I reckon you caught your malaise from the mammograb machine because you hadn't practised with the fridge door first.
    How are you today Jonesy?

Look. Everyone just CALM DOWN. Brynne has shown herself in the last couple of years as being a bit of a whizz in the kitchen. She's quite the 'homely' type given the chance. Just last week whilst i was in Sinney talking stockmarket's and Roll's Royce hubcap option's with Geoff, Brynee baked up a unique, and very interesting tray of muffin's. They were a mix of blueberry, avocado (from my tree), asparagus, and vegemite. They sure were all the talk that weekend. The way Brynne tackled the dishes after dinner, insisting the home help have the night off(i helped load the dishwasher of course), not only gave me a proud, almost fatherly warm glow inside, but at that moment convinced me of Brynne's rising domestic goddess status, and her caring, loving, interesting mix of attention to detail, strong maternal instinct, and the willingness and now proven ability to try anything in the kitchen. It was soon after i made the call to Simone Warne to suggest Brynne come down to stay for a few day's.

    Great post's, Reg, Techie, KT.

Hang in there my happy place!

    Best wishes to all! Ooroo!

:huggy: Reggie, you're such a sweet soul. Simply beautiful post.
We're still in the grip of a heatwave over here in the West. 37+ yesterday and very humid. I'm driving down to Capel tomoz and they're predicting 38. 10:30 and I'm still sitting around in my jammies...cool and loose. No end in sight. I don't mind the heat, personally, so I try not to whinge, but it's keeping me out of the garden and I need to get it finished.
Bridge, how's your flu? Summer flu somehow makes you feel even more grotty, so hope you're on top of it soon.
Missy, thinking of you and your countrymen. I think looters are scum and was particularly disgusted by the lowlifes who looted the home of teens who were keeping vigil waiting for their mother to be recovered. Appalling! However, the story that came out about the wedding yesterday where the bruised bride married her love who helped carry some of her colleagues out of the collapsed building was uplifting.
      Happy Saturday all.

        Afternoon, all ratbags

Feeling a bit chatty so fast-forward at will.

Like Missy, I also avoided tv last night and even my usual enjoyable trawl through the weekend papers has been restricted to perusing matters of pap and dross only. Gossip, food, fashion. Yep. Toaday I am shallow.

So, MrG - I realise you're busy looking after Simone and the kids but what about poor Warnie? Can you not get hold of him on the blower and offer some advice? I mean ... here he is, all on his own in London while the lovely Liz has gone AWOL to Mustique with Hugh. Dog, that Warnie is sooooo unlucky in love.

Mish - I read that you guys are in for a burst of extreme heat. Are you in touch with Beags? Hope she's doing well and look forward to her posting again.

Happy - it's great to see you posting on other threads and I'm roooooly glad you ate the cheesecake before those bloody pesky locusts got it.

        CW - how's your day of P & Q progressing? I SAID HOW'S YOUR DAY OF P & Q PROGRESSING?

Bridge - where the bloody hell are ya?

        Techie - lovely sentiments. Thanks.

So all this rain has left me with an unprecedented crop of pears. Today's culinary discovery was pear cut into eighths, caramelised in butter, brown sugar and a dash of balsamic, left to get cold then placed on top of grilled tasty cheese on baguette slices. Yummo.

I now intend to keep up the no tv thing and stick my head into a book until some ominous clouds release their cargo. Yep, it's looking like rain but hey - my trench is in. Ready. Waiting.

        Be well.

          Peace at last.....

Cricket is just so disorganised! We played at a local state school but no-one had unlocked the place or had the keys so we had to climb over the fence to get in! Sorry, but at 40, I am too old for climbing fences. However another mum climbed over and she is 8 and a half months pregnant so I had no choice.

Then onto Ukelele lessons for the son. Now he has gone out to play......I am going to relax.

              Peeky Boo.
That's just lovely Techie. I'll take a copy if you don't mind.

Early morning roll call, and then off to a local community garden for a couple of hours hard labour with the boy and an excentric group of dread sporting folk.

Thence to a local produce market for goodies, and a suptuous lunch of same.

And now methinks a junket of DVDs for the afternoon.

I know we have to turn the tele on again soon....but just a little bit longer.

Hey, Bridge, good to see you back and up and at 'em.
Tawn, Beags said she'd call or message me when she's all settled back in at home, so I'm not going to badger her, but I'm wondering how she's doing, too, and how she's handling the heat down there. I heard it's 37 today and the humidity is 91% Don't quote me on that, but it feels about right. So hoping that I can get from home to the venue for the Engagement Party this evening before my makeup melts off my face and my hair and dress end like looking like a limp rag.

                  Evening all,

had a great night this evening with a spontaneously created ukulele orchestra. we did lots of oldies and goodies and in the middle of a birthday celebration raised lots of money for Chch.

Beagle has her mum with her until MOnday, so not alway easy for her to get on-line.

Haven't really read back much - will do so tomorrow.

in the mean time I am feeling very grateful for the love and companionship of friends.

I have also been feeling very humbled by the response to the earthquake of NZers, our Aussie cousins our other Asia-Pacific neighbors, and all other international aid. The official response has been well organized and efficient. But the unofficial community response has also been tremendous - the Student Army has been out assisting the elderly, a community near to Chch organized hundreds of hot meals to be driven in today for people who don't have any electricity and other spontaneous gestures of good will are very becoming common place. In the midst of the crappy stuff, our common humanity has won out and it feels good

Reg. Thank's for the rap. That website/blog thing is something that will be done, but probably not for a while yet. But it's in a little queue of things to do in the next 12 months. Thank's for your offer of assistance. I will definately run some idea's by you toward's end of year, if that would be ok.
