    What's Changed?

    Hi All,

Just some ramblings that I wanted to put down.

I've been hanging around here for over a year and only ever making a few days here and there without AL - and struggled with that.

Now, though, I fell like something has clicked in my brain. I REALLY don't want to drink. I just seem to cruise into the evenings drinking Coke Zero or water without that huge "I need wine" feeling.

I went out for dinner at the weekend and had sparkling water - I just knew the world wasn't going to end if I didn't drink wine.

What has co-incided with this is a high protein / low carb diet, so I wonder if getting rid of the carbs has helped.

Already, I feel healthier and more positive.

that IS interesting cw as i'm hoping for the same thing based on some info that Choochie posted re "radiant recovery" & some books referring to the sugar addiction syndrome.
i've bought these books & simply substitute "alcohol" for "sugar" in all contexts. everything seems pretty relevant in these books & whilst it may not be THE thing, i find it explains many things quite well & a lot of "reasons" have fallen into place.
i'm hoping for a Febfast success - a thing here in Oz & NZ where we pause our drinking for Feb to raise money ...... today is the first day!

Good for you, CW! I know that something just "clicked" into place for me, too.
I just knew I was ready to be finished with it. It's a great feeling, isn't it?

Awesome CW. Isn't it the craziest feeling? It took a while for me to process that I wasn't even thinking about the booze anymore. I was kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop until I realized there was no other shoe!

          Hey CW

An addictions counsellor once told me that having a protein snack is very effective at averting cravings for alcohol. Perhaps you have been inadvertently doing this by changing to a high protein diet? Regardless, if it;s working for you, that's awesome.

I wish you continued success. I am on day 33 AF and something feels different for me too this time> Not sure what. It was just time....
