    Army Thread 5th February

    Goodmorning all!

Tips -- I got a skype call yesterday from my daughter mid afternoon my time, we connect and I hear "MOM I HAVE A DATE!" :egad:, his name is Helghardt. How do you pronounce that? He was to pick her up at 8 pm. We assumed in a car. But no.

So if you saw a tall slim long haired blonde riding on a young man's bike (not sure how that worked out?) he showed her all of stellenbosh before they had coffee.

It's cold and rainy, I have a virus that only gave me laryngitis and a cough that only appears while I am trying to sleep at night, and I am about to leave to get into a freezing cold pool to teach swimming lessons until noon. :upset: Try teaching 6, squirmy 8 year old boys with googles how to swim, all I do is pull elbows up and say you can't hear me if you are under the water.:H

    Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, Army friends. Just wanted to pop on and warn JC that she might need 2 boxes of tissues for that movie....it will really tug at your heart! Also, Pops-you are a very handsome man, if you don't mind me saying.

Okay..I'll go back in my corner now....xx

Hello all from the relative safety of my daughter's guest area. Have been here since Tues (she had surgery) and I can say with ABSOLUTE certainty I would be dead in a month if I had to keep up her pace with the kids. School, car pool, special homework projects, boyfriends, girlfriends, Valentine's Day, etc, etc, not to mention a constant diet of SPonge Bob. Oh well, it's very lively!!

Well, I got the new(ish) cooker in and I don't like it.
I like to see what I'm burning at eye level which the old one had the capacity to show me, and I didn't have bend down four feet to watch my sausages getting frazzled.
I had to take most of the kitchen apart, to take my old, and perfectly functioning, high/eye level grill cooker away, (like the ones that I used to see in the old Kojak shows) and put in...something else, that starts at my toes, and ends up 4" above my knees.
The proof is in the pudding, which, hopefully will be in the oven tomorrow, if it works, will be in the eating.

Afternoon all. :hallo: A record-breaking number of goals in the footy premiership today and still one match to go. Mrs JC will be pleased after toon came back from four nil down at half time to get a draw. Wonder if she's at St James Park? Those supporters who left at half time must be kicking themselves.

Well done on getting the cooker in pops. Why did you take the old one out? Methinks you will get used to the lower height with time. Did I see somewhere that you work in IT?

Normal for me at the mo pops. Have to have a blub at the start of every day for some reason - and my day starts in the afternoon.

Zenstyle;1054657 wrote: I've been reading a wee bit from your posts. You're going through the same stages I went through when I joined here. I was downing massive amounts of grog... 1.75L of vodka or equivalent a day, sometimes more... and I cut back like you're doing. Titrated down and used a measuring thingy to pour and logged every drink. I have done a few AF periods but can't say I'm totally abstinent as I still have a couple now and then. What I can say, however, is that there is no way on Gods Green Earth that I will ever be able to drink that amount ever again. They say that when you relapse you end up drinking more... well, since two years ago, that is not the case. I can't even handle a few now. Which is a good thing.

I tied one on a week or so ago and it was the pits. And quite pathetic when I look at the amount I drank... hardly anything! But... again, that's good.

Anyway, I can relate to where you're at. I got totally reclusive towards the end. Its no way to live. And don't pressure yourself with keeping up with the rest of the people on here... there are some awesome people that haven't touched a drop since they made the decision... just do your best and start trying to live life again.

OK... way long post for moi. I've been noticing some of the things you've said and had to add my tuppence worth. :l
Hi Zenny - lovely post :thanks:. 1.75L is huge! I still have a long way to go to get off the drink, but once I do I can instinctively tell that if I relapse I will end up drinking much more. It's inspiring to come here and listen to people who have managed to get themselves off the drink and stay off it. Makes me think I can do it too. Well done to you for getting to where you are now. :l

Mmmmmmm... an Afrikaans boy then... I'm not terribly good at doing phonetic spelling, I'm afraid - the G is prounounced in a guttural way (think of guttural German) - Hell-G-art

                                Summat like that :H

It was a nice day for it (hope he didn't sweat like a horse), about 32C and just a light breeze to relieve the heat a bit.

I also tapered my drinking - measuring the ml's etc. - good luck with it. It actually takes a helluva lot of effort. Hence the importance of having a daily plan... And yeah, these folks made all the difference. Couldn't have done it, otherwise.

Phew! What a nice nanna nap I ended up having. Only got up at 7.00p.m. We're having a braai (BBQ) tonight. Have some brilliant Namibian hardwood burning down into a bed of red-hot coals, ready for the lamb loin chops, spatchcock chicken & kalaharis (breadrolls filled with onion, cheese, tomato, garlic, chutney and then BBQed).
                                I'll do whatever it takes
