    Thank you

Thank you to all who have sent PMs and good thoughts. I returned from Germany yesterday. Even though the reason for the trip was a sad and unexpected one, there were many good moments and some wonderful surprises. I was able to reconnect with family I had forgotten I had and with friends I'd missed. All in all a trip that leaves me with sad as well as fond memories. My dad is doing alright; I suppose the real test will come now, that I have left and his 'normal' life continues without my mom.

I'll be back more frequently in a couple of days - need to unpack, etc. and get rid of this god awful cold I've brought as a souvenir :yuk:

Hope you all are well :l

    Thank you

Ah, Sunni, good to see you back, I'm so sorry you've been through such a hard time, and I'm delighted you 'resurrected' some family ties, unfortunately this is inclined to happen round the death of someone - particularly poignant when it's your Mum. Mind yourself, and pamper yourself to get rid of your cold, and get back to us when you can - we've been missing you

Sunny, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself and let yourself grieve.

Hope to see you on here soon feeling better.

          Thank you, ladies.

I'm over the worst now... my mom passed away on January 15th. It took some time to get travel papers in order to be there for the funeral, etc.... but I spent the last 2 weeks back home with my dad. Mr. Wonderful was with me for the first week but had to return to work after that.

I was unable to see my mom (which I was really hoping to be able to do) but at least I wrote a good-bye poem which accompanied her on her final journey.

To be honest, things didn't really sink in until I was there. I had a few tears beforehand here but anyone looking at me sideways sent me into sobbing fits the first few days there.

However, listening to my dad and seeing some of the footage he took of my mom the last couple of weeks before her passing... I believe that she knew her time had come and I am grateful that the end was quick and gentle. My mom was a very strong, vibrant, and courageous woman... to see her reduced to someone unable to cope without help from others hurt and is not the quality of life she deserved nor desired.

These things really are sent to try us.

Good to see you back Sunnibum.

Perhaps it was meant to be that you didn't get to see your Mom. You won't have the picture of her dead or dying in your memories. You'll be able to remember her as you said she was - a strong, vibrant woman.
Good on getting connected with friends and relatives. We use Skype a lot to keep connected with friends and family back home. Maybe it's something you could do - you know, once in a while call them up that way. It nice having them in front of you on the screen, much better than a regular phone call.
Hope you get rid of your cold soon. :huggy
