I'm sure my parents never wanted to hear another Beatle's or Beach Boys' song as long as they lived. I'm sure they regretted getting me that little portable record player that I could take everywhere with me - that meant any room that had an electricity plug. Even campsites had them back then so even when we went on holidays in the summer, they got to listen to my music. Of course I had to sing along and dance as well. Oh dear, I didn't go through that much with my kids. They both had walkman's so only they could hear what was playing. And we'd listen to some of the music together if I liked it. Older son used to drive me nuts when we went somewhere in his car tho' cause he always had rap music on with the bass up full. You could feel every single beat right through your body.

          Now where were we............... music.

I've got to have the only two kids in the world that used to come down stairs and say

'MUuuuuuuuum, DDaaaaaaaaadddd can you turn the music down, we can't get to sleep'

            :H:H

I used to play music a lot when I was doing housework and such when the kids were small. My older son still sends me links to Youtube videos of the artist I used to listen to like Lionel Ritchie, Elton John, etc. He really likes some of those old songs in spite of being a big fan of rap music. Not Greek rap, mind you. Can't stand the stuff myself. The language just doesn't seem to suit the genre of the music IMHO.

The son and heir did music to A level and had a voice coach ( ooo err how very la de la) and sang a lot of Elton John, Queen, everything really from opera to pop. Wanted to do music at Uni then suddenly changed his mind and did Geography

:H:HThat's a 180 degree turn if I ever saw one. He must have had a good voice to sing Queen. Takes a powerful set of lungs to sing some of their songs. Loved their music BTW. This is one of my faves....

Well, he must have a very good voice then. No wonder you're so proud of him. My guys can't sing worth a sweet darn. Especially younger son. Couldn't carry a tune to save his life. And when he does sing, the cats run off and hide and the dog starts to howl....

:H:H:HI would never been able to stand a musical instrument like that. A piano or a guitar, a violin maybe even a flute. But a trombone or horn or God forbid - drums  No thank you. Didn't have the patience for something like that. Still don't...

Gotta go finish up my chores. I have spent much more time on here than I intended to today although it has been lovely talking with everyone.

I think we scared the Army brats away tho'...

He played the trombone (supplied by the school) for two years but when he got to A levels we had to buy one. The cheapest we could find was around ?600.

I've got to get on too, hun.
