More or less ditto from me.

But leave out the pisshead bit.

My poo trowel is bright orange.

        Is this too much information??

Life is too short not to be shallow, was a saying that I latched onto about a year ago, and I gave it some serious consideration. My life was far too caught up in the why's......why is this so, why cant I fix it, why why why why? Driving myself literally insane, doing the head miles...drone drone drone. I watched the day to day antics on a couple of friends (non alkies).....took special notice of what things concerned them, and what did not. I worked out that I was tearing myself apart from inside my head with things way way out of my control. My existential angst was of my own creation...maybe I even used it in a self-agrandising way to place myself at a distance from other 'non thinkers" therefore rendering me special/clever even? It occurred to me that these friends did not agonise and obsess over lifes many unanswerable questions, instead they just got on with life, focusing on what they could touch, see and hear and taste. One foot in front of the other, no philosphical dilemmas to solve 24/7, just breathing one breath at a time. When I finally stopped my self imposed exile from ordinariness, I finally stopped drinking.
          Sapphy,
          What a great post.
That could have been me you are talking about.
But I still agonize over stuff over which I have no control, or unanswerables.
But am slowly teaching myself to let go of it.
To which I have to ask myself "why do I not just let it go, relax more, laugh more, and let the world get on with it. , and like Richard Carlson, don't sweat the small stuff...."

              Morning all,

              Nothing much to report.

What good taste in books you have Rags, love these books, shame Stieg Larsson died before knowing how successful they are, the third movie has just hit the cinemas but you can get the other two on DVD, word of warning fairly horrific rape scene in 1st movie. Definitely cant put down stuff, read while cooking with dire results.

              Saphy love your post.

TF - thanks for your little comment bout me other thread - like a pat on the back mate.

Cloudy in sunshine state, hope all are well, check back soon see yuz

Going like the clappers to atone for yesterday's slothage. Perfect outdoor working weather.

Ditto on the Larsson trilogy. I've still to read the last one. Great stuff.

                  Hi Happpy,
Yeah, having read the first 2 books, I'll be forewarned about the movie. Tah for the warning.
I didn't know other movies had been made though. May take myself to the movies. Something I rarely do, so I may treat myself next week.

Rain threatening here. Good, as garden in dreadful dry and weedy mess.

Tawn have uploaded first wave of pics. All I have to do is resize thema bit smaller and I can pop the up.

                      RAGGSY GOES ON HOLIDAY

Mr Rags had been working very hard to earn money to take Mrs Rags (that's me) on a holiday.

"Where would you like to go my beautiful Raggsy?"

"Well, you usually take me on a Saturday morning drive to Bunnings and Woolies, so I was thinking just for a change, let's go to the USA and visit Techie"

"Anywhere else you had in mind my little sweety pie?"

"Yep, Canada to go skiing. And don't call me sweaty pie"

"Orright lite off my life, let us away to yonder skies and beyond......."

So, passports, teddies, VISA card, ski boots and thermals packed, we off to Sinny to catch a flight to New York.

20 hours later, here we are at....

It is about 10 pm on a Wednesday evening. Our hotel is about 2 minutes walk from here.

There's a gigantic screen in the square with a web cam pointed at ME
Mr rags and I are towards the left of the screen about half way down.. He is looking rather pale.

In another section of the square is a huge add for tourism Australia or Virgin airlines or something.... nyone recognise the famous beach???

And for Tawn, Bridge, Beags and other horse lovers......

Next day Mr Rags takes me on a romantic (?) horse and carriage ride round Central Park, which probably looks lovely with a fresh fall of snow, or better still, in summer time..

We go past this doggy statue... apparantly he is more famous than Rin Tin Tin. He was sled lead dog and managed to get food and medical supplies through to some camp somewhere. Probly Techie can help with fine detail.

And we pass by the Dakota Building........................ and the two candles that continually burn for John Lennon.

The Teddies accompanied us on the ride. They gave the horsey an apple.

great pics ragsy - my you are all bright & active today aren't you.
hot here (just for a change) , & finally finished with some sheep work so hubby doing a rubbish run then it's inside for arvo to watch a Foxtel movie.
packing for weekend away then, actually week away. going to horse thingy on weekend, then onto our getaway place for the remainder of the week, just 3 bitches together (myself, old dog + Rosie the princess).
slowly getting on the mend. doing too much in morns means i pay for it in arvos, still wake up pretty sore but i keep reminding myself i'm a tough chook & to not be a blouse.
hubby still making up mind re Melb - July 16 th looking less likely as skool holidays means air-fares skyrocket, so the 1st date of Aug 6th looking better option. hopefully , cos then it means more of you can come? ragsy, you still up if that date is orright?
not much to report here either, huge case of same shit, different day really.
bridge : hope your mum is coming along beautifully & any chance you would come down for a lunch? would love it if so.
                              tawns,happy,saph....you guys in?
ficks, hope that black dog leaves you alone for a bit.

sorry, no deep philosophical posts up from me!

re the steig larsson novels : just started the 1st but my attention span wanders & i'm finding it hard to get into.

orright. all's quiet on the western front. will take my puter with me so can clock in after the weekend.
might also check back in later.

                              that is all.

Beags, stick with the book. It seemed interminable for the first 130 pages or so......

Re Black Dog. Just before I went away I bought a little book called I Had A Black Dog by Matthew Johnstone. When I've finished my holiday pics I'll photograph the book and post a bit of it. It has lots of piccies
