What are you rooly, roooooly, 'THINGO' about then, eh?
Well I know you'd all rather be in bed, or on the music thread......

Talk about disturbing... I think I'm jealous of my parent's relationship...
They met when she was 14 ...he was 16... have been together ever since...are utterly devoted to one another....not uncomplicated as far as their children were /are concerned, but simple for them. They are devoted. During Mum's recent illness he would not be apart from her for more than a day, has never once taken the wedding ring off in 51 years. Same with her....
What am I missing here ? I know it's a different generation and all...but I'm sick of trying to work this shit out.

How selfish when my Mum is sick. But amazing what you think of.

By the way I am GOING to do the Reggie on this post, so read up.
      How embarrassment.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Don't try to analyse or read tooo much into some stuff. Some things are what they are. I'd love that kind of r, r....r...........relationship too, and maybe i'll have that one day, and maybe you will too. I don't think life is quite over for you just yet! Plenty of time for new experiences, and.....and.......Luuuuurve. x

Do you really need to do a Reggie?

I think that post is so utterly poignant and should not be deleted.

I have to agree. It's a lovely post Bridge, but if you're not comfortable with it, go the veggie by all mean's.

I'm going to be brave and leave it against my better judgement.
All I mean is....wouldn't it be nice to be adored, and to adore someone else without all the bells and whistles...just yourselves ???

I hate being sober sometimes. Too much thinking and shit.

Turn the music down I'm going to bed.

Hello Undies. Just caught sight of your posts. Sorry about the multi-quoting but it's better than posting answers to each and every of your posts.
First and foremost, thanks Tawny for the picture of those gorgeous flowers. And thanks to Raggsy for the lovely photos of NYC. Great stuff.

Bridge, Mr. G is right, as usual. My parents were devoted to each other, too. All through good years and bad years and years of my Dad's various illnesses. In spite of all his problems, he lived to be just a month short of 82. Doctors hadn't expected him to live past 70. Part of his zest for life, in spite of very painful illnesses, had to do with how devoted Mom and he were to each other. He died in 2004. In 2007 my Mother met another man, just about her age. They have been partners since then and Mom has once again found the same kind of love and devotion she had with my Father, and her new companion has the same from her. It is inspiring to see how happy they are together. They are two 80-year old love-birds. It's never too late. Not saying of course that you'll have to wait that long. :H But don't give up on believing that the right person will come along.

Agreed and I see from a later post that you decided to leave it up.

Tawny, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Wishing you all sweet dreams and never give up hoping....

Yep. That's why I got a dog. Or does she sense the treat I'm holding behing my back?

On a more serious note: it is absolutely fantastic when that happens.

Ah, but you ARE adored, yep, ok, virtually here, but i'm sure amongst your clan more so. As are you Tawny.

'Getting' sober, as you are doing, is, i think, a bit different to 'being' sober. Whilst we are getting sober/trying to stay/be sober, our body chemistry is a bit all over the place Bridge. Being and living sober is real. No hiding anymore. The transition isn't usually smooth, but it happen's, and then.......then, we start to see some magic.

                            I am waffling again. G'night. :h

I was up late last night too ..... wish I had popped in to see what was going on.

What beautiful posts. Glad you left them up Bridge. I too envy people who are lucky enough to find their soul mate and life partner at an early age. I often think it must be sort of like having a twin.

I think it is the intimacy which is of most value in relationships. That is why I value my MWO friends so highly .... because there are things that I can share on here, and that I see other people sharing, that I wouldn't be able to tell very many people about. And having it in real life and flesh and blood is, I think, is one of the most precious things that a soul can experience.

well, that's a deep start to the day!! Better get off to do some superficial things like make coffee!

Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn
