I'm very sorry to hear that Bridge. I think I would hate to lose my sight more than say my hearing or my ability to get around. We are all closely linked to our parents one way or another whether even when we don't get along with them. It's when we have a good relationship with that makes their trials difficult for us as well.

Tomorrow is a new day Bridge and we have to have hope. I assume that not much can be done about your Mother's sight but with help from you and your family, she could regain her spirit. I know it's difficult and it's easy for me to say so, being totally uninvolved and such. But try to stay as positive as you can and remember this and maybe it will help you. No matter how bad the situation, there is always someone worse off than we are. Your Mom is fortunate to have the support of your Dad and yourself and others in her family. Imaging her being alone and not having loved ones near her. Wishing all of you strength to get through this and hoping that your Mom can find her old self again. :huggy

Bridge - I hear you loud and clear. My mum has severe Mac.Degen., legaly blind status, and each week her spirit plummets to new depths and it totally affects my psyche. I spoke to her for half an hour today and feel like a total shit for having had the luxury of enjoying a couple of carefree, frivolous, joyous days.

Tawny, there's no reason for you to feel guilty about your little holiday. You can't do anything about your Mom's condition and I'm sure you needed a well-deserved break with all the hard work you do around your place. Sorry to hear that your Mom has M.D. It must be incredibly difficult to cope with losing your sight bit by bit and knowing that one day you will be blind. I guess the only thing one can do in a situation like that is be as supportive as possible. But not treating yourself to a couple of days off will do nothing to change your Mom's situation. It does tho', recharge your batteries and make you more able to give her as much support as you can.

Alright, I've taken up enough space in the Undies thread for today. Wishing you all a peaceful night and a productive week ahead.

Just finished chatting to friend who was suicidal. Think I've talked her out of it.. think she's ok and will sleep well now.

For crying out loud... they recognise 'elder abuse' these days.. what about the kind where
kids abuse their single mother??? whatcha call that eh?

I know so many single parents with teenagers that are spitting pure poison, using their mums as punching bags and driving them over the edge. The parents feel so guilty and ashamed over their kid's behaviour... that they must be such a bad parent that they can't talk to anyone... until it's too late and they're checking into a friggin mental hospital.

What do we call that kind of abuse eh?

Evening All,

Well, my afternoon and evening has been spent looking after son. His temperature was up at 40.5 degrees this arvo and he's been vomitting, so we ended up calling out the doctor. The doctor has said he can't find anything wrong, so it must be a viral infection. I think I may be in for a disturbed night, alternating Nurofen and Paracetamol.

I am so relieved I'm not drinking OR smoking this evening. Just Nicorette and lemonade in this house tonight.

Bridge - I hope you feel happier soon. Feel free to PM me, even if you just want to ramble. You've listened to me enough before.

TF - Don't beat yourself up about a couple of days off.
