Aargh! Son's behaviour has now got SO bad that he is on detention both breaks today plus an hour this afternoon and a visit to the principal's office tomorrow. I just don't know what's got into him. We talk about his behaviour one day and what is expected and within a VERY short time he's in trouble again. At least this year everyone is in the same page - zero tolerance. He's had loads of chances, loads of telling off and time out, so both the school and myself are going to step things up.

Academically, he is bright but he messes around in class, doesn't do homework unless you stand over him and lies like it's going out of fashion. It's got to the point now where no-one believes a word he says as so many lies pour from his mouth. He's in 3 detentions today as he claims at home that he doesn't have any homework but, as I found out last night, he has loads. I asked the teachers to keep him in until it's finished.

Sorry - I'm just ranting. I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall.

On a better note, I have had the most amazing training session and absolutely punched the crap out of everything. That's let some of the frustration out. And I'm seeing my psycologist this arvo so I hope she can give me some tips.

At least I'm dealing with this sober. It was great to be clear headed last night when helping with the maths homework and it's great not to have to worry in the mornings as to whether the teachers will realise I'm hungover. This can only be dealt with with a clear, sober head.

        oh I s'pose you're alright ... for a little tacker ...

So I'm back and pleased to say I succeeded in the Rooly Rooly Challenge. One pair of very nice S.silver dangly earrings and, more importantly ..... a new spade! ***claps hands and squeals ***

Missy - you're killing them in the gym!
CW - got no words of advice re the boy but I'm so glad you're tackling this without the added embuggerance of a hangover.
Grinder - great to see you posting

Anyone seen Bridge? I reckon the Gster has captured her somewhere ... she's probably doing his ironing.

          Arvo all,

Good to see you made it back from the vampires in one piece Tawn, as for the spade if someone got one for me, I would hit em over the bloody head and use it to dig a dig a great big hole for them:H CW, ya know there is a bone of contention re the homework issue. Some learned folk think it is an unnecessary imposition on the free/relax time of a child (how old is your boy), others think that it instills discipline etc. etc. Well I go for the first line of thinking. I have four sons. Not one of them did an iota of homework all through primary/secondary school. I never insisted. I did however insist that they spend their free time doing something creative/productive/useful with this time. Such as developing firm hobbies, playing sport, exploring other non-structured learning opportunities. One of them has achieved a double degree in arts/economics and the younger two have just started at Uni also. The traditional learning models set up for our kids, just doesnt seem to inspire some of them. Just my thoughts CW I hope things take a turn for the better, hang in there.

Gday Missy, Ragsy baby, Techie, Mr. G, Bridge put down that iron girl!!!!!!!!

            Hi Saff,

He's only 11. There is a lot of pressure on him at school but I think that pressure would ease if he was organised and a little more thoughtful. He gets into a mess then lies and lies again to get out of it. I have asked the school to help me build up a good foundation and I think some other things will fall into place. He does have out of school interests as well, mainly based around music, and loves those.

He's just so unhappy as well. I have photos of him, here in the home office that I can see now, and he looks so happy. They are holiday photos and I know he was having so much fun. Now he's just miserable all the time.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see my psycologist today as she is sick but husband has decided to come back from his business trip early to give me some moral support.

Thanks for "listening" guys. Even just typing things out makes issues clearer sometimes.

                          Hello Beags,
                          Sorry, it took AGES!
I couldn't make up my mind.. I thought I wanted mediterranean so bought lemons and lentils and stuff but forgot the onions.. couldn't resist buying a bunch of japanese things but went back to the original plan... started by putting baby potatoes on to boil... then went off on a tangent with tahini dip with lots of garlic and coriander, the lamb was too expensive so bought chicken niblets and marinated those with lots of garlic & tumeric etc.. then wanted veggies, couldn't figure out what to do with the frozen spinach, so did steamed beans and as I'd got the griller thingy out I thought I'd grill slices of butternut pumpkin and sesame seeds...
so ended up with lots of yummy bits and pieces and felt quite joyful and abundant from it all. Kids gobbled it up.. Yay!

Have just shooshed the kids off to bed now. How are you going my friend?

                            CW,
Hi, my boy is 12 and struggles with school too. He is happy enough on holidays.. I know how you feel and also have been through the lying thing. If it's any comfort, for my son, I think it was a way that he thought he could get some power over things in his life. I think he's realised it doesn't work now and it's stopped a bit. It's nowhere as bad now as it was a year ago.
Just hang in there and love him. He'll be OK.
                            Hugs
                            Ficks
(come to think of it, I am a hell of a lot better than I was a year ago... maybe that helps too.. tho I still think it is an age thing with boys)
