    Good Missy!

Seriously - how about those wet wipes tissue things - Wet Ones they're called here. Enough to wipe face, pits, bits etc. Should they go in your kit?

Sorry Beags, I have absoFlutely no Idea what a pork belly even looks like when not attached to a porker.. sorry I was of no help whatever I did cook my very first roast pork at xmas and the crackling was a big success but I had to be told what to do with it first.

Thanks G'Throb, that about sums it up.. I think I am indeed feeling very butterfly like lately!

discussion of grog here, and whether there'e enough talk on the subject? I think that was your question? It's a good one.
I think there are times when I want to be really serious and I do check other threads in some moods... expecially if things are going totally flippantastique here, but there are plenty of times I feel ok about talking serious stuff too... we've had so many close shaves between us all now! I've been as silly as a pork chop and in every kind of good and bad mood.. And then of course there have been weeks/months where I would not talk to anyone and just posted music in the lounge because that was the best I could manage. I feel privileged indeed to be able to be just as I am among friends here.. even when I disappear for a bit. I don't think anyone ever really forgets why we are here. There are just times that we don't mention 'the war' for sanity's sake.

Hey... another use for vegemite I've just been shown.. when you make a cutting (gardenspeak) you put a bit of vegemite in the water you sit the cutting in for 20 mins before you plant - the vit B takes the stress out of it for the wee plant... back shortly... I have tiny cheese muffins to make among other things

Oooooh! Thank you Reggie... I will have a look and a try of that soon.

I've rigged up my tiny laptop next to the cooker now so can follow the shenanigans

This a bewdiful afternoon here too and am kicking myself for being in the kitchen instead of outside but as we lived on spaghetti bol for a few weeks to pay some bills, I've been going berserkers with foodie delerium ever since!

I can't seem to do one thing at a time! I've got to be cooking at least 3 things at once!

Here is a frabjous song to express the sunshiny afternoony cooking mood.. I know it's not spring but I feel the same way about autumn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6YIbcLaSTk[/video]]YouTube - Atlas Sound - Springtime Instrumental [HD]

Got the water purification tablets .... and raro to mask the taste of them! I tell you, there is nothing that is missing from my kit!!!!!

There was a very funny article in the paper yesterday about one of the buildings in the chch CBD where the facade has come away to expose a living room with a whole lot of very healthy dope plants. They are within the cordoed of area and apparently haven't been moved since the earthquake and are majestically swaying in the wind apparently ......:H

Fickle - a Bento contest is a great idea! Games you can eat .... yumm!

alcohol for me is still my "friend" apparently, much as i'm striving to see it as the poison it truly is, in many real ways responsible for why i am me today. which is not always a bad thing.
                    let me explain.
going to a 40th birthday luncheon on Sun : my best friend down here unfortunately is also a problem drinker, knows it but dunno if she's willing to do anything
bout it. when i mentioned that i would be restraining myself, her first response? "well you won't be much fun will you?" is that how i'm perceived? honestly? a pisshead woman who's hilarious if she has a few wines....oh great. but the fact that i'm witty, smart, reasonable on the eye when i scrub up, & the other things i should truly value, are not really important in a party situation are they, if you're not the party entertainment.
you know what the motto for living down here is?
" whatever you need to do to get thru". everyone , even teachers, nurses (no docs here tho, 'cept me!) drinks BUT i've failed to see that they can do it in moderation - surely not to the level of a bottle of wine a night. & starting to sneak in a few at lunchtime.
so my blinds have been removed, by being here.
hence if i seem clingy, or needy, or attention-seeking, just be aware that it is the polar opposite of my day-to-day life here.
Absolutely AGREED Beags! Here Here :l

And as I'm streaming music from the lounge behind me, could not help but share this song posted by Reggie.. hope it brings you a smile! I'm bunging these cheese muffins in the oven and then out into the tweety sunshine for a tiny while

Hey I watched a doco a week or two back that was interviews with the guys that walked on the moon... finding out the real story about how tinny and flimsy the rockets they went up in were was truly sobering!

                        great tunes ficks & reggie.

a warm Sat arvo here & i've got too much time on my hands apparently.
in the process of planning a trip to Melbourne in August, thinking Sat 6th Aug for a lunch with anyone who cares to come. i'm sending hubby to a Carlton game so if that puts men-folk off thinking they'll be seduced by moi, feed THAT thought to the lions. i am merely being a friendly person, no ulterior motives intended. if no takers, i'll go to a day spa instead.
this trip is a gift to my husband for his birthday - he loves Melb & footy & of course will get an instant stiffy if we stay in the actual area....tracking flights, footy game tickets & accommodation in the next few days.

thanks ficks & missy for your huggies (not those that adorn babies' arses) & smilies.

Begs, I will keep that date in my diary too - way too early to say yes or no, but will keep it in mind.

Oh my, we bought "Alice's Restaurant" today and I'm just watching it for the first time! Don't know quite what to say about it 50 years on ... :H
