Underoos and International Guests, March 2011

    Morning Missy & Slug-a-beds

Yep - was up at 5.30 too which I hope I wont regret tonight. Would hate to be the old fart snoring through the concert. So ... I wonder how the nasty woman is going to explain herself at your meeting this morning. This is too funny.

CW - your post made me smile - it's those special moments of realisation that make us feel good.

Happy - now I really need to ask you about Bogdan & Danuta. I had to google Danuta which gave me lots of options but then Missy supplied THAT clip! I need to know why you know of these people...

MrG - that was quite some family gatherin! And no, I won't be telling.

Ficks - come out and play when you're ready.

    Mario - goodnight.

Have a wonderful Friday one and all

All the little cherubs are at school - aaah peace and quiet! love it.

CW - how good, yep simple stuff but how good.

TF - possibly my dates are wrong, BUT about 20 odd years ago Doug Mulray did a breakfast show on TripleM in Sydney with at the time a new young comedic talent called Andrew Denton. One of their little skits just before the news was the adventures of Bogdan the Turnip Boy and his girlfriend Danuta. Shades of the Perils of Pauline radio theatre. The closing line was the clincher, as Danuta was always at the mercy of the villain shreiking, "Oh, no! Not jiggy-jig AGAIN!" Knowing Denton now, would guess that he had come across the clip Missy dug up. Anyway when Denton left to go to the ABC the show was nowhere near as funny...So history lesson over my little Danuta. Where are you off to again tonight?

Morning All clavicle wielding, alcohol eshewing folk.

I have just finished reading 'Drinking, a love story' by Caroline Knapp, and can really recommend it highly. Especially good for the girlies, although I'm sure there's something in there for the fellas. There were more than a couple of slap in the face moments in there for me.
I might post some exerpts, if you're interested ?

Off for a coffee with the girls now.

Might seem like a small win CW, but it's actually a big one there.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

          Morning all,

A much needed and noice sleep in here. 'Drinking, a love story' i have read Bridget, and yep, i got a lot from it. I just switched it to a bloke's (my) perspective.

Safe travel's TF. Chuck a gold coin into the case if you walk past me busking on Fitzroy street later will ya?

              "Afternoon everyone,
Just booked my tickets for Doobie Bros. next Friday.

Missy, Am feeling better, so should be my bouncy self by tomoorrow.

Good on you Charlotte.... at the end, you and your mate will have the certificate and the other two will probably have hangovers. :H

Hi there Happy.... well done on catching up on your work. Take the weekend off.

And just for the record. I love daylight saving. But I agree it could have ended at beginning of March. Wonder where I could find info on how much power is saved by having daylight saving.

Will see if I can grab a copy of Drinking. Have to go to Wollongong soon so will nip into A&R (that's if they haven't been closed down).

Hello Ficks, catch up when you can.

              And where's Sapph?
              And Reggie?

Ah Bridge, wouldn't it be lovely to be as much in love as I was 20 years ago. :l

Too true, Rags. I have already spoken to one of them. She was so ill after her drinking session that her boyfriend had to take the night off work to look after her. And she's off sick today with a hangover. It's a ripple effect. One person's drinking often affects others.

                  .
I read this having got back to the office this afternoon after a morning of meetings ... hadn't had a break all day, and I've been meaning to read this book for a long time, so headed off to my favourite second hand book store, which I regularly frequent and am known by sight at least. Its huge this place, and full of all sorts of treasures! Bu I wasn't sure where I was going to find "Drinking A Love Story" I must have looked a bit uncertain when I walked in, because the owner, in a very loud voice, yelled across the floor "Gidday Missy, you look like you're looking for something"!! At this point about 12 people browsing quietly looked up at me expectantly ............ and my mind went blank, and the only thing I could think about was whether I could ask him where the piss head section was :H:H

I told him I was looking for a book by Caroline Knapp. No, I couldn't remember the title, I said, it's for a friend :H Could you just look in your catalogue and see if you have anything by her?? So he looked ..... "Got it" he said and went off to the shelves. Yay, I thought .....

.... I now own a copy of Caroline Knapp's second book "Alice K's Guide to Life" :H

                            Evening All,

Cindi - How are you? I've been keeping up with your thread. Let us know how things are going? I am some sucess with Topamax. It certainly works well with the cravings but the side effects are not pleasant.

Missy - If you're not careful, you'll end up with all of her books. I hadn't heard of Caroline Knapp until Bridge mentioned the book. Might have a look for it.
