I just got back into town and am reading all the posts...this is terrible news and a great loss to these boards
Sometimes I wonder...."Why is that frisbee getting bigger?"...and then it hits me.

I am in on Kanga Day.

Totally in shock coming here this morning and finding out he is gone. While I rarely post beyond Mods, I tried to read his posts, he had such a lovely way of bring cheer to everyone. He will truly be missed and was loved by all.

To his special Sheilas, there are no words to compensate for this loss.

                  Hugs,
                  Mary

Australian version of the 23rd Psalm

                      It's better here....

                      Psalm 23 (an Australian version)

                      God is the station owner,
and I am just one of the sheep.
He musters me down to the lucerne flats,
And feeds me there all week.

                      When I'm feeling poorly,
And at something less than my peak,
He leads me to the restfulness,
                      Of a coolabah shaded creek.

He teaches me not to break away,
                      Not to be a loner;
He teaches me to stick with His mob,
And acknowledge Him as my Owner.

Even when the droughts are bad,
And I cross the Desert of Death,
                      God is close beside me,
So close I can feel his Breath.

God is the one who holds the map,
                      That gives me my direction,
And God is the one who guarantees,
                      Provision for my Protection.

Although there are dingos in the hills,
And the paddocks are full of snakes,
                      God serves up a barbeque,
                      Of beautiful T-bone steaks!

                      His patience and compassion,
                      And forgiveness fail me never;
And I'll live with Him in the Homestead,
                      Beyond the end of forever.

I couldn't have said it better myself......
                      :h :h :h :h

I haven't been on here for a few days so I feel absolutley shocked and frozen by this so very sad news.
When ever I came on here and saw The Kanga's name I would always read his post knowing he would make me laugh with his very own style of humour. Can someone please tell me what happened?

                        In great sadness

                                Our memorial

Hi, all. Sorry so late in getting back about this. I think your ideas are lovely and a fitting tribute to the Kanga. I?ve been working on creating an event which will be permanently linked on the MWO Calendar (above) to take place on the first Friday of each month. But I?m having a problem getting it to work; I?ve not used this feature before. So I need to call in some assistance. But I agree it?s a wonderful idea.

I understand our global time differences may mean a US/Canada/etc. Thursday equates to a UK/Europe/Asia/Aussie/NZ/etc. Friday, so I?m also trying get that squared, too.

Until then, the proposed event follows and I hope to enter it on the MWO calendar when I can figure out why it?s not working.

As always, thanks, all of you.

                                RJ

                                Kanga Day
                                First Friday of each month

We have established this day in honor of MWO's most beloved Kanga. This cherished member of our community was lost to us in November of 2006 due to complications of surgery.

We honor the memory of a generous Aussie who shared his remarkable humor, intelligence and playful poetry with thousands of people across the globe via our message board. In his name we set aside a day each month to abstain from alcohol?or begin a period of abstinence?and to reflect upon his gifts to us. We take pause to "bloody think" as he said after posting a poem by a young cancer victim. She had asked that we slow down long enough to enjoy the rain, the music and the friendships.

We pay tribute to Kanga by doing the same and by renewing our commitment to our health and to one another. To live each precious day to the fullest, as if it were our last.

And to laugh. Because in the end we can't imagine Kanga would have it any other way.
