Hiya Stirly - excellent news re your mum. Sounds like a minor miracle to have come through the accident so unscathed. Can't keep up with the thread either. Have to learn to read and type faster.
Hello Zenny and Chilli.
Having your own space to get away from the family sometimes sounds like a brilliant idea tips. Maybe you could get some soundproofing or double glazing or something to lower the noise levels?

Reccie - Portugal is the same as UK. Strange as we are an hour different from our Spanish neighbours but always on same time zone as UK. Apparently it goes back to when someone high up in government had an English mistress....."In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

The flatlet isn't new - it was here when we bought the house. It just hasn't been finished to the extent that it is really habitable. We've got a chest freezer, some bookcases and a shitload of shite in there at the moment. The idea is for me to use it to get away from the family sometimes - my own space. Problem is, the outside door and one window faces one of the fecking student properties. Although that situation is getting better, it's not nearly as peaceful as I would prefer it to be.tiptronic_ct;1068274 wrote: Nope - no aircon. Wouldn't be able to afford the additional electricity in any case.
We use an anti-mozzie spray for when we're outside. Works like a charm.Well, except for the noise, can you put something in between the door and windows and that property. Like a trellis covered with a vine or something. Or how about some kind of blinds on the door and windows so you don't have eye-contact with the property. Something, anything. And the portable AC units sound like a good idea if they don't suck up electricity.

Am off to walk the mutt. Should have done so half an hour ago but I've been caught up here with posting and answering PM's.
Wishing you all
And a lovely afternoon to Zennie.
