I'll have to figure out how to post some. I just got my new charm. I went with a heart instead of the ladybug. It symbolizes taking care of my heart...my liver (they didn't have liver shaped charms, lol) and basically my health.

But so much richer in other ways. Just being sober after 20 yrs.....feels amazing!

Yaaay, my new charms just arrived in the mail. I have 6 now waiting to be put on my bracelett. 6 weeks AF here I come. The next one going on is a silouette of a boy with my sons name engraved on it. I want more than anything to be a better, healthier mother to him.

I simply love the idea of rewarding oneself for staying sober (especially the charms!), thanks for this tread!
Maybe I should try this too - I went on a binge yesterday, sometimes I really hate myself, and am desperate (hopeless case, me). But maybe some kind of reward would do the trick (even though we are broke right now.......)
I spent about 4 pounds a day on alcohol - bottle of wine - (is booze cheaper in Austria, do you happen to know?)
I treated myself with a nose-piercing to remind myself of starting all over (you know - change your life and do it fast ;-)) every time I look in the mirror, bit crazy because I am 34 and a little old for something like this, midlife crisis maybe........

Hey Moon,

Welcome. I used to joke that i wanted to get a tattoo saying 'Don't drink' on my face! Y'know to remind me...I was so desperate to stay stopped, i was only half-joking.

While I think it's a great idea to reward yourself for not drinking, I don't think anyone can use it as the only motivation to stop drinking if they are an addict. But I think all too often we forget to treat ourselves or give ourselves credit for a job well done, so it's great to do that.

My new thing is nail varnish and lip gloss. Probably makes me look better than a tattoo on my face...
