    NERALY WENT BACK DRINKING

    Mario

I know that you have been dealing with a lot and I really hope it gets better soon. Thank you so much for your honest post - I know it must have taken a lot to write it.

Whenever I think about taking a drink, I think - do I really want to go back to day one. The answer is no.
I know you don't want to either. Anyway - I won't preach to the converted but you know I am here for you.

I am glad your partner is such a tower of strength for you and I am sure you are the same for her. Peace love and strength to you all.

      Mario,
Struggling to find words here and really can't add anything to those that have already been said. Just thank goodness you battled through and came out the other side.
And thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a dear friend.:l

Oh, Mario, I'm so sorry you're having such a tough time - but I am so happy that you were able to deal with everything as you did. Whether someone here is a newbie or an olbie, I think each time we conquer the 'rebellion' that is just under the surface for us all, that we become stronger and more aware of what is going on the next time. Thank you for sharing this with us, it should and will put me more on my guard anyhows, the easy times are just that - easy, and with time, most of the time is - easy. It's the 'uneasy' times we must watch for, and lets face it, I reckon those times will occur on and off for the rest of our lives. Sending you hugs Mario and well bloody done.:l:l:l

Marioman - you've had a really tough and emotional time lately and shown enormous courage in facing up to your demons. You wouldn't have been human if you hadn't been tempted to have a drink. I'm just very pleased that you found the strength not to. Next time you feel the urge to drink, come and talk about it in the barracks and we'll help as much as we can.

But on a serious note, well done for pulling through. I know it wasnt easy and it shows me that AL is a demon waiting patiently for the right time to pounce. Well done! xxx

Jeez mate. You scared the crap out of me. :H

As someone here said, every time we say 'no' we strengthen our 'no' muscle, whatever stage we're at.

                        Actually didn't you say that ? :H

I reckon you are a star Mario, and your frankness makes you even more so in my eyes.

my hair stood up on the back of my neck when i read your post , the last time it did that was when i was reading a post of your about a man you met . He had been sober for a good number of years and then went back drinking and nobody could help him stop. He was found dead in a park. there is nothing i can add to all the posts above, you have helped so many here with your posts , don't ever stop MM

Mario, I am so sorry that you are going through a difficult patch. I am also very grateful that you shared your story of almost drinking. It does show that we can be vulnerable to wrong thinking no matter how much sobriety we have. Reading of your thoughts (I will drink for a week and then start over) reminds me so much of how my own brain tries to work. The catch for me though, is that I HAVE relapsed and I know what a big fat lie that is. Once I started drinking, it was SO hard to get back on the wagon and I started over and over and over and over and over for a frustrating 8 months before I could finally get AF again.

I need a reminder from time to time to beware of that stinkin' thinkin'. I hope things are getting better for you with the life stuff going on.
