Underoos and other possom bottoms - April 2011
As part of the Sunday Morning Leisure Pages, I present the following unique property for rent for when we want to go and visit KTAB and the other paddys. It's only 5000Euros per month so I figure if twelve of us go and sleep head to toe, that converts to a measly $571.58pw each. Be silly not to go! BUGGER - LINK DIDN'T WORK, WILL TRY AGAIN

Morning Pundies, was just reading through everyone's lovely Sundy morning things with some inner grumbling - I was sitting here in my fleuro shirt ready for work. And then my bro rang & said he went out & did it at 6am this morning. Yay, so I'm off to poach a couple of googies of my own & read High Sobriety.

HOME MADE HOMMUS
- 1 can chick peas, drained
All to taste:- Garlic
- lime juice
- lemon juice
- ground black pepperpaprikacuminfresh coriander
Tahini or if you want to crack the fat down, low fat greek yoghurt.
Slam it all into a blender and pulverise.
Will last for a week in the fridge at least.
Serve it with lightly toasted wholemeal pita and tabouli, with a few slices olives and any other mezze delights you have to hand. Spread it on a lovely nutty bread for breaky. Serve it with your veggies of a night. As a dip with toasted Turkish bread.
I am so far into this stuff at the moment it's not funny. If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

mmmmmm - paprika? I'm a bit underwhelmed by it. Maybe I am buying the wrong type?? I hear it is supposed to have a smokey taste (which I love) but I haven't tasted it myself so far ..........Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

The smokey kind, and the other kind. You must have been using the other kind
Maybe try buying it at a specialty spice shop?I'll do whatever it takes

Tip - buying it from the Indian spice shop down the road (I live in an area where there are lots of people from Punjab) - is there a name for the smokey kind as opposed to the other kind??Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

It's like a lot of things quality wise. Herbies Spices in Sydney have a good rep re good quality stuff.
With NZ there are so many cottage industries with superb quality food, I'm sure you'd be able to find a good supplier/importer.
I notice with Paprika and a lot of spices that they go off a lot faster than indicated esp supermarket ones. Fresh is best, or as close to original form.If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?
