      Lovely stuff, Reggie!

Another nice thing (in light of your current avatar) ... I don't know if MrG and you are members of Apra, but in this month's Aprap is a great tribute to Jimmy Little who has now retired. A small excerpt:

"Following a successful kidney transplant in 2004, Jimmy travelled Australia attending community events, health seminars and music festivals. He is the patron of the Indigenous Doctors Association of Aus. and ambassador for the Fred Hollows Foundation and Kidney Health Australia. He is also an ambassador for literacy and numeracy with the Federal Department of Education, Science and Training, reinforcing positive messages to schoolchildren across Australia. In 2006, he began the Jimmy Little Foundation to improve renal health in indigenous communities across regional and remote Australia.

Already formally recognised as an Australian Natural Treasure, the work of Uncle Jimmy will be admired well into the future. His music and charity have left an indelible mark in Australia's history, but what makes him truly extraordinary is his kind, humble nature and positive outlook on life."

      Lovely man.

        Evening all,

Yep, a ripper day to be sure. Sat out the back in the late arvo sun and found another new tune. Yeeah.

Yep, am in APRA TF. I know Uncle Jimmy has been involved in the literacy and numeracy stuff at least, for a long time. He is indeed a great man.

Well, i know a few of youse will be watching 'biggest loser' on the box. I've got no idea who's competing. Who's evryone rooting for? There's got to be a Daryl or a Terry, or a Troy, and a Sam, Amanda or a Michelle? If so, i'll go for Terry. C'mon mate. Shake it!

I'm just watching a bit of telly, got the sound down, but it's a pommy movie which has as it's focus, relationship between a young man and his girlfriend. The fella's quite violent and aggro, and physically and verbally abusive towards his partner the whole time. There is a daughter, probably about 7 or 8, in the picture too, also suffering from the abuse in the home, emotionally at the very least. The obvious problem? Alcohol. The bloke is constantly drinking, and abusive to his partner and anyone else he comes across. He's not happy with his actions either, you can see. Aside from any underlying issues the guy, and/or the relationship may have, the absolute OUTSTANDING issue and immediate problem is the booze. His drinking. He is not thinking straight, not thinking clearly, always on edge because of the grog constantly in his system. I'm just reflecting on the huge problems booze causes in the home, and in relationships. This movie, even with the sound down is very real and raw, and is strongly communicating a realistic portrait of a young man who is losing his way, and feeling the pressures of raising a young family whilst being out of work. No excuse for him to be violent and abusive to other people, but as my little world cruises along nicely, it's a stark reminder to me, of what is happening up the street somewhere, right now. And a reminder of my childhood. Geez, did i just say that? (insert l.o.l. and big cheesy grin)

                G'night.

Oh my ........ I sang that song in a school concert when I was about 10!! I can still remember the lyrics :H:H

very jealous hearing about lovely autumnal days ...... we appear to have gone straight into winter!!!! I need to get back into my exercise programme today - I have been incredibly slack for about 3 weeks now, and am starting to feel it. I was pretty inspired by your "today's run" thread Mr G.

hope everyone has a good day.

Nope. Much later than that and let's just say my songwriting career didn't exactly give me a tax problem. :H

And like Missy, I now have "Boom sha la la lo' looping through my head. Thanks.

Missy - go out there and swim ***shudders***

Morning all undies, same Missy it is drizzling here yet I have had me runnin shoes on, zoomed and back and just out of a hot shower with my porridge and a read back here to fix my thoughts. Thanks again lovely Mr G!

Dilemma....My eldest boy works part time for a restaurant i do work for which has two partners. When I picked him up yesterday he was a little quiet and wanted to talk about how one of these guys was pissed during service, stumbling into tables and the like. We chatted about it and he is ok. My dilemma is do I tell the other partner or not? Thoughts please undies, I am at a loss? or maybe just need to be pointed in the right direction?

Morning Missy, Tawny, HP, and all Wonderundies,

Boom sha la la lo is a great song i reckon. I used to absolutely love it. Still do. I just found it cheery and relaxing as a young fella.

HP. I reckon the pissed partner's actions will eventually catch up with him, speak for themselves, and all will be revealed. My concern is for your son's safety and emotional well being in the workplace, as well as the drinkers'. If it's safe and reasonable for the locust to carry on there, okay, but whether you say anything to other partner, your call. Could you maybe speak to the drinker, but only if you feel safe and comfortable doing that?

Ok, okay. A later period? You were bound to have been mixed up with Glen Shorrock, so, geez, can't think of any of his hit's aside from LRB stuff. Right, i reckon you had a hand in writing that 80's classic 'Maxine' sung by that nice N.Z. lass Sharon someoneorrather, and you very likely wrote, or co-wrote 'Working class man' sung by Jimmy Barnes, 'Thunderstruck' by Acca dacca, 'My island home' by Christine Anu, and the theme to 'Packed to the Rafter's'. Warm?

A corker of a day here, so orf into it!

(P.S. The old Louie the fly song from the mortein ad is one of those songs i was always spewin' i hadn't written)

                            Lunchtime checkin from me.

MrG - maybe one day I'll tell ya. Or maybe I won't.

HP - If there is a dog, maybe one of the patrons will put in a complaint and you won't have to get involved at all. Guess I'm just a tad worried about workplace repercussions if the pissed partner gets wind of the fact that the locust dobbed him in. Your call - you know the people involved and how they're likely to react.

Speaking of dog ... so I'm deep in the bottom part of the paddock having towed the little trailer on the back of the mower. Ear protectors are stilll on and I'm loading the trailer with wood. I'm counting quietly in my head because I know exactly 80 pieces of split wood will fill the trailer. Happily counting and tossing in the silence ... 64, 66, 68 ... when I turn around and let out a blood-curdling FUUUUUSK! There's two women standing there. Appeared out of nowhere and startled the shitters out of me. "Oh but we were calling you and waving", they apologised.

Guess my visiting Jehos got to Witness something entirely different today.

Back out into the glorious day. (sorry Missy)

I can't stand religion hawkers, however nothing can spoil my mood today.

How can anyone not love this weather ?
Beautiful clear crisp cool weather. The light is astonishing, the leaves are just starting to turn, makes a girl just want to skip around kicking leaves.

Another block of work begins tomorrow, so a fastidious clean and organise was attended. And now the feet are a tapping for some gardening in the afternoon sun.

A little sneak peek on the scales reveals a 6 kilo weight loss :welcome:

I'm a weeny bit chirpy today.

                              Can ya tell ?

Thanks Mr G and Froglet, input very much appreciated, I have a two week window before the locust goes to work again, so will be flapping my ears to see what direction the wind is ablowing before he is let loose again. Peaceable normally but where my bugs are concerned i can be a tad loco.

Bridge I am so jealous, the rain has not stopped all day, so have been good and doing my sums, ho hum or is that hi ho?
