On another note, I've gotta tell you something about my son.....Son takes lessons in "robotics". This is seriously cool stuff. It's a Lego system that you build and programme. A teacher came to me today and asked "have you seen this?" It was a Lego robotics guitar but instead of strings, it had a slide system to play the notes. And the notes actually worked! This was built by Son. This morning was an open morning for prospective parents and my son was manning the robotics area. Apparently, he spent most of the time playing "Smoke on the Water" on his Lego guitar.

Dubbya - have been trying to find a link to send you, but I've lost it. But one of the Engineering schools here has an Easter holiday programme here for kids, which is based on building Lego robots. It is aimed at kids 10-17, and is designed to interest them in Engineering as a career choice, but it is way cool!! On hand are a whole lot of experts from different fields who can help them with different things that they might be interested in (eg; IT people, musicians, vulcanologists etc). There are also extra points for team entries, with points awarded for collaborative learning. They also supply them with constant pizza!!

I think it is brilliant!!! A friend's son went on it two years ago - he is very talented but school just wasn't doing it for him. It gave him the boost he needed to understand why education was important and also to be able to think about how "theory" was applied to real life.

BTW - I thought that use of the term "joy-germ" was in common usage on both sides of the Tasman. Perhaps not????

What about "gob-smacked"? Which I know we picked up from the UK in the late 1980s, but which is now in common usage here.

Hi Missy - had never heard "joy-germ" before but Love it! Can't remember where or when I first came across gob-smacked but use it often.

So I'm watching Biggest Loser and can't quite wrap my head around the fact that Damo has lost more than I weigh....

          Tawners,

I lost 140+ lbs with my GB. Have gained back 30 lbs. :-(

I bet I lost as much as you weigh.

          Did with me, anyway.

            hi everyone.
have lost track of you all & the various comings & goins of the underoos. but you all seem the same in spirit.
i've been in this hiatus of an existence which is revolving slowly like the rest of the universe doesn't exist......& thus i get drawn inevitably back to here.
over the next few weeks, i will get scant chance to come on here but i will try to, so happy Easter to all, don't scoff too many Easter eggs but know that I will. They might be all shit & fat but I love 'em.
Dinner made & brewing (mongolian lamb stew + rice), bored as usual, but riding again so a bright spark there. Sheep being fed frantically, the land is dry & parched, can't be fucked cleaning the house, even the birds are shitty....
SO HELLO TO EVERYONE & BLOODY BIGS EMOTICONS TO YOU ALL.
            there.

a spesh aura? jeez, is that what you call it? i've heard it called many other things....
how are you my special g-bloke.
in fact we gotta share the love & say we are all spesh-shull. aren't we.
go the biggest choc egg/numbat you can find underoos.
the choc might be full of crap & fat & crushed cockroaches, but stuff it, i love easter eggs.

                        Hi Beag's!

I'm far more concerned with my resurrection at the moment. Aside from that ongoing and always interesting task, i'm good thank's.

                        Carn the bomber's!

Don't let me start on draw results at AFL games! Especially grand finals! We've already had 3 or 4 draws this year in the comp! Ridiculous.

Valerie Taylor was on 60 minutes and the footage from Palau was amazing, it was in relation to the fishing laws, but over and above that the dive footage and the fish were like nothing I'd seen outside of Finding Nemo. My favourite sick kid movie by the way. As in I make them watch it with me when any of us are sick.
Geez, if it's Valerie Taylor it will be fairly old footage I imagine.
I'll see if I can get a snap of nemo for your kids!! But I won't arrive there till 9th May and won't do my first dive till 10th May, so please be patient...
