How did they assess singledom ? Was it by reference ?
'A Bill to allow for controlled access was defeated in 1974. In 1979, in an infamous "Irish solution to an Irish problem", an Act was passed to allow doctors to prescribe contraceptives to married couples only. A 1985 Act allowed contraceptives to be sold to anyone over 18 but only in chemists. The IFPA and Virgin Megastore were prosecuted for selling condoms in 1991. Later that year, the sale of contraceptives was liberalised.'

I was in College in Dublin from 80-84 and of course the students union shop sold them openly. I was very popular back in my home town with my peers back then :H:H

Isn't it ironic. After slaving in the kitchen for 17 years, tonight I made the perfect roast potato.

Bed and book calls. Off for an early night.

        Take care, all.

Even recent/modern history is bizarre, isn't it ?

            Ok, history, then.

Did you know England was still "transporting" children to Australia until 1974?? I found a book about it. They took children from single mothers or homes in poverty and claimed they were being sent to a better life.

Then I found out that the "holding home" was a large manor house in the village I lived in! The house is now a grand home that is personally owned. Our village is tiny, only 2000 people, and this is never mentioned in the history.

Morning you yeller bellied, sleepy headed, dozer's, (and international guest's)

              Up and at 'em!

Medium to high level corkage of a day here predicted weather wise. Wonder what shenanigans await me at the coalface today. There are always surprises.

              Have a good one.

I don't dislike the English people at all. Far from it. But what i think of aspects of the English governing style, and the people who are part of those successive governments, is another matter entirely.

                    Morning possums,

                    hope everyone is good today.

It has been raining here for about 5 days straight and it is really starting to get me down. And I keep looking at photos from my niece in Sydney, and she is still in shorts and t-shirts! Sometime I wonder why I dont just join the Trans-Tasman drain brain.

                        Morning All,

Off to the gym this morning. Queensland has turned beautiful. Cool mornings and evenings, warm days and no humidity.

                        Catch up later.

                          Morning all,

Good to see the joy-germ spreading first thing in the morning. Hey MrG - how did your mum's tests go?

Missy - five days rain would do my head in. Suppose I shouldn't tell you that it's gorgeous here. Brilliant sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, expecting 22C. OK, I won't tell you.

Bridge, CW and all to come - find an adventure today.

                            Morning Pundies,
                            I think....I've caught....the joy germ...
I haven't felt really positive in a while...not quite back to me ole' self but getting there. Thankyouse for your patience - I think I might've been a bit of a pain. mwuah muwah.

CW - I can't believe no-one else has mentioned it - you spent 17 yrs toiling away in the kitchen, make a decision about your man and *poof* out pops the perfect roast potato. I think it's a symbol, that potato, of you & your future. A slightly crispy outer shell from just enough time in the oven at the right temperature, and retaining it's light fluffy centre. Just perfect.

Missy - the last 3 days in Sinny have been 16-21 with showers...and it's gonna be like that until next Tuesday. But hey, if you have 1M aussie $ for a house why don't you send it over to me :H

Jonesy - how's it going on the Bac?? I've been taking 20mg very sporadically. Yesty, renewed my commitment & did 50mg...then fell asleep on the couch at 8pm & woke up in bed at 9am. But no thoughts of drinking.

                            I did a Reggie yesty.
