Morning All....Mama I would you say you are very successful indeed despite the trials of your early childhood. You had the advantage of education that many of us don't get even with the continuity living with biological parents. You have a loving family and give love unconditionally. You've overcome much adversity and come out fighting. I admire you.
I started writing a book about my own life here and hit delete. Too much information. I've kept busy this weekend. Didn't even talk to my Mom but did text with daughter and engaged son for a bit too. Lots of emails flooding the inbox from members from my other group. It's tough for so many of us. I treated myself to a DQ Mudslide yesterday--got them to slice some bananas in to ease my conscience--yeah right! I made three trips to the dump with the car loaded and top down. Lovely afternoon it was.
Off to shower and clear out some more today. Hope it doesn't rain....

RC - sounds like you have a busy little bee! Wow - such a good feeling when you have a good clear out - I always think so anyway. ROTFL at you having them add a banana to your DQ Mudslide !! Atta girl.

Good morning Bird - so many folk here that have 'found' their birth mother - must be an odd feeling when you meet. Sometimes good and others not so good. My mother wasn't that good but at least I didn't have to look for her - but things have all sorted themselves out and we are great now.

Jan - I too, did laugh at your description of your family, bless your little cotton socks! BUT, and I might be shot down in flames here, I DO believe we choose our parents, for lots of reasons. You obviously have come out of it with flying colors and I am so proud of all that you are today! You could have gone so many ways..... I think it is wonderful and I love the person that you are. I also think it is so nice that you are the way you are with your Birth Mother (put BM, then changed my mind LOL), and shows much compassion on your part. And yes, if ever you start shooting Fritos across the table and growing whiskers, we will let you know!!

I have to go and pick up my new specs this morning. Then work the late shift. be back later all - hi to everyone else that is coming in after me!!

Fluff, it's a great sleeping bag, but $250!!! Really?? Is she going to the arctic to sleep out? :H I used to fall for all that stuff my grands wanted (designer handbags, swimsuits) but now they have to earn the money, and by then they usually change their mind. Good luck with it, and let us know!

Fluff, don't know how many grands you have, but when they come in hoards, like mine, you really have to pace yourself with the spending!! Of course, I think mine are the most brilliant,beautiful, spectacular, ever, but they need balance, and that's what I give them. I make them work like no one else does, and they get more from it than earning money. They LEARN. I'm OLD (ask Sunni!) and I have memories from poor farm days. But I was blessed by being surrounded by caring, (crazy) relatives, and everything I experienced made me me. Sorry, didn't mean to go off, but I do that with mine, and they keep coming back, asking for more!

Ruby- my kids are 14( daughter) and 16(son)-so it'll be some time before I have any grandkids!-BUT, when I do have them I would probably spoil them rotten, I' m sure!

I bet, Fluff. Grands are the BEST! I shop all year for mine, and my SIL said when I come to visit it's like the crcus comig to town for the kids, and I take that as a comlpliment. If all I bring is an unusual fruit or veg, they love it! And I constantly come up with new projects for them.
With yours, do your very best to stay engaged in these difficult teen years. It's hard. But one day your solid presence will pay off.
They may go through a time when they ask for distance, which hurts, but they WILL come back. It happened with my children, and now my grands. Your a GREAT mom. Just point them in the right way.

Gee, thanks, Ruby! You know- I have to say my kids are pretty doggone great- they are active in sports, they've got a good head on their shoulders, they are honor roll kids, and I'm pretty sure they are more mature than I am!:H I guess I lucked out as one of those mom's who have good kids- I remember when I was growing up my older brother and sister were just terrible teenagers- into drugs/alcohol-but in their defense, my parents were not the best parents...
for some reason, I just never got into trouble as a teen, but then again there was a bit of an age difference between myself and my older sis -she was 7 years older than me.( I also have a twin sis- that lives in the city-we are fraternal twins and don't look anything alike! )
Gosh, I am rambling on here...
Anyhow, I just love my kids!

Hi Fluff;
I. Am. Exhausted.

My sister took over the night shift with mom last night. Mom is reluctant to use the cpap machine in the hospital, as it freaks her out. A nurse told sis that if mom's lungs don't improve, the next step is intubation!

I barely slept. When I did sleep, I dreamed that I had an oxygen mask on my face and couldn't breathe.

Imagine my shock to arrive here bright and early this morning to find my mom looking bright, sitting up, and chatting with the dietician! The nurse today denied any talk of putting mom back on a breathing tube, which pisses me off. At least she's okay, and improving daily.

Easter was okay...brought mom some goodies and a beanie-baby lamb. I made a nice dinner. Hope your Easter (and everybody's) went well. :h
