Broken, it's so sweet of you to be looking after others! Now, look after you, too, OK? While I DID drink some after rehab, I NEVER went back near the previous levels, and today life is so much better now. My life is busy, crazy, funny, expensive!, but loving, or I honestly don't know where I'd be today. Though being sober is hard, and our original problems are usually still there, that's what sober people do. They don't sell themselves out to a chemical that alters our brain, kills them faster, and causes so much more pain. For themselves, and everyone around them.
I want the best for everyone who comes here, looking for help. But for anyone reading, thinking there is a magic answer, something that doesn't require sober work when we ARE sober. I hate to disappoint. And also, anyone thinking of going back to their abuse because their life is hard now, what's the bottom line? Ruining ourselves, and probably the lives of those around us. It would be great if they came up with a cure, but then, where would we all be? Back looking at quick answers, solutions to life's problems, or would we be working through what got us so messed up in the first place? We have to live, deal, go for a good life.
I can't give instructions. Wish someone had given me some. But we never think we'll go there, do we? I know, as someone so much older than most who come, we can look back, and see things.
Like anyone can as easily look back and realize they ordered the wrong thing on the menu, without reading the small print. Our entire life takes work. Unless we just want it to happen to us. Think of what you want, and if you're not living it, even sober - it's time to make all the changes we can. As for me, I want to be happy as possible each day, live a good life, have fun, help people. And really, looking back, I could have had a great time when young without ever picking up a drink! So, in this rambling post, what I'm trying to say is in your most sober thoughts, decide what you want. It's hard to believe anyone wants to be crazy drunk, blacking out, avoiding what we all have to deal with: our life. Excuses, reasons, whatever, don't get us here. There are other solutions.
So again, I apologize for being long-winded here, but something about your post made me think of these things. We HAVE to deal with other problems in another way, not with AL.
Keep posting when you want to update us, can tell us how your plan is working. Otherwise we're try to just escape. All my best hopes for you.

Fennel mom update ...

There's an abnormality with her stress test. Tomorrow morning, they'll perform a catheterization on her and see if there are blockages. If it's minimal, they'll insert a stent. If not, she'll be facing bypass surgery soon. Wish us luck!

Oh Fen - I am sorry - hopefully it won't come to that. Sometimes the cath alone can remove the blockages. Positive thinking eh? Is the hospital far from your home? Try and get a good nights sleep tonight won't you! Thinking of you and your mum. Hugs XXX

Lovely to see you Jan - enjoy your time with your dad tonight - how is he doing - is he tolerating the chemo okay? How do the docs thing he is doing? My love and hugs go with you.

You need to check back when you get a few spare minutes and check the pics of Fen and me! ruby posted one for us. We had a good meet-up and she is really nice. Wish we were nearer.....as I keep saying, America is just TOO big!!

hello one and all good to hear you mom is doing better fennel nand hope thetestg she will be takingtomorow turn out to be nothing to worry about sending prayers and good vibes to you and yours ... and well as for everyone good to see everyone doing their best and as for my day ..omg omg omg and ill say it again omg omg omg ... i could see if i didnt write everything to did and do and even more that was just a maybe .. but where there was a way she found it always forgetting what we dicuss and welll that all i can say .. i have never wanted a job to end as much as iwant this one to right now and well im just told them im taking a few days off to take care of sue and yes sue is having some problems and well the way i put it to her the my family comes first and formost .. andreally she didnt even want to hear the fact that sue just had a sseajure ... and that wasa just enought for me tojust say ill see and call you when ican come back after i make sure sue is fine first.... and i dont think they would fire me when there is only around another weeks worth of work and there still money that i havent goten pay for yet .. but anyway ill be fine and this will give mesome time to check off that to do lidst for the truck tuneup and trailer and anythin g else i might be forgetting .. love and big big hugs

LOL Rog - you are well and truly in her web!!!!! Anyway I am off to bed - we have storms heading our way tonight - bad ones and I think I am going to be up with Ben half the night. So, off to bed - hope you all sleep well - and Ruby, if I don't talk to you in the morning, drive carefully and get to the cabin safely. enjoy your time there....and RELAX.
