Sunni...Dad gets tired, but that is about it. He is so cute bald, and finally lets the family see him without a hat, but WILL NOT go out in poblic. I don;t blame him.
Fen,,,,,glad you know what's up with your Mom...I am sure she will do fine, and I am so glad that you are there for her...sober!!
Weather is beautiful here...sorry all my sisters had to sleep in cellars.
Have to go drag two teenagers out of bed...Hub is runninng around like a maniac trying to get us all moving...when I get home I will tell you about the cat door he installed yestrday and the psychotic cat that refuses to use it....

Good morning, friends. Claire...thank you for letting us know about Swannie and please know you are not intruding..you are welcome here with open arms. As you can see, we all care very much about our little Swan...if you have the chance, please let her know she is in our thoughts and prayers.

Hill...the weather has been wild...but I'm very happy we did not have snow! I'm sorry your wife had a little melt down....I do that too but I try to remove myself and take some me time to get myself back on track. Be patient with her and be glad that you are AF!

Quittin-Congratulations on day 4 and be very proud of yourself! So glad your family made it thru the storms!

Vicki-it was good to finally talk with you too. I hope your hands will be okay today after putting up the kale...btw-how do you "put up" kale....I don't think I've ever eaten kale

Jan-I'm glad your Dad is better too and that the pet scan showed positive results...that is such great news! Enjoy your day in the sunshine...even though you will be working, you will be with your 3 boys...quality family time.

Sunny-I hope you enjoy your last day off....it's always sad to me at the end of vacation too when we have to go back to the "real" world..but then I am thankful, too, that I have a job to go back to. If only there could be a compromise.....like able to survive financially with a part-time job....well, I guess that could be a goal for me......

Roger...you sound like your good ole' chipper self and that makes me happy. I was in the drugstore yesterday and saw some Pepto Bismol...guess who I thought of????

Good morning everyone - grateful - this is the second time I have come in after you and you have said everything so beautifully for me!!!! ROTFL Whatever I say now will either be a repeat of you or sound mundane!! The only thing I can say is that, as a manager I can't go down in hours - one of our managers did go down - her mum has Alzheimers and she has gone to part time, and is now a 'bookseller' as opposed to a manager, so she can care for her more and she says it is VERY difficult - one can't go 'back' without it being hard - plus we would miss my money. It is a nice idea though......

Quitting - I do have to add my congrats to you for your 4 days - wonderful - the first few are the very hardest - getting out of the habit...... so well done - glad you are doing so well!

Jan - funny your dad won't go out being bald - I never wore a hat (or a wig) when I was bald - unless it was cold - I figured I didn't have to look at me. LOL And it is FAR more acceptable for men to be bald!! Glad he is feeling okay though! You sound as if you are going to be very busy today!! love you too!!

Hill - sorry about the more snow! Bummer for you. We have started off this morning with sun! but are expecting showers throughout the day (I think - haven't checked today's forecast but that is what they said yesterday).

Anyway - after 10 hours sleep last night (my gosh!!), I am feeling fit and raring to go - if it doesn't rain I am hoping to get out and carry on weeding!! Do the weeds EVER stop? with the heat and the rain we have had, they are back from where I pulled them just a week ago! I want to try to keep ahead of them this year - fat chance but at least I am going to try!

Good Sunday morning All. Congrats QT and Buffy--keep it going!!
I haven't read back friends and sorry for not being so talkative. I am moving the store at the end of this month. On a shoestring budget if the financing doesn't come in but I am not giving up. Good location and rent includes utilities. Will save at least 10k per year there. My daughter has booked the weekend off to help move and that is such a blessing considering all. So I won't go on. Just wanted to touch base abit.
Poor SSH--that must have been a very bad accident if she is still in hospital. Sending healing energy to you Swannie. xo
Mama a day in the sunshine sounds divine. enjoy! Still snow on the ground here. Pretty hard to melt with snow and freezing rain yesterday. And as I type I see a little white stuff floating down still!

Good Morning RC - sorry about moving premises - but at least you can keep afloat a little longer by doing that - great that your daughter is helping you move!!

Sorry that you see little while bits floating down - I was trying to come up with different idea of what it could be, apart from snow - volcanic ash maybe? Someone with bad dandruff?

I need to call my mum (Sunday today) and then get outside and attack some weeds - I am procrastinating - once I get out there I really enjoy it - it is just getting out there! Last day off today.:upset: It will be hard to get into the work routine. But what will be will be.

Good morning, family! It was so nice to wake up and see so many posts of everyone doing so well. Congratulations, Quit and Fluff! That first week is always the hardest, but it gets easier the more sober time you have and you begin to feel good and appreciate life and God's beautiful world that He gave us to enjoy! Just stay here with us and we will help you if you stumble!
Okay, after many request, here is my explanantion of KALE. They can't handle heat, so we grow them in the spring or fall. It grows like turnip greens, but with no root and is alot sweeter. It's beautiful, healthy lettuce like leaves and you pull the leaves only up and wash each them good, then you put them in a big pot and blanch them (cook them until they wilt) then you put them in a ziploc and freeze them or you eat them fresh. They are fine and so healthy! Only thing is 1 gallon of fresh leaves only = 2 pint size freezer bags after blanching! I wish so bad I could send each one of you some! I guess it is a southern thing. I'm sure Ruby has ate them.

BTW, sweet Grateful gave me the most wonderful idea yesterday! She said if my garden produces more than I can handle at a time, get a youth group from a Church to come and pick it and donate it to their food ministry! Now I know WHY my insane self planted a half acre garden! :l :l :l :l

Firstly news on "swan" (your affectionate name for her).
She should be out for her birthday,i managed a short visit today and spoke to those in the know who said that her -and i quote-" strength and determination" has meant a far speedier recovery than they thought and with help at home she should be ok-so heres hoping.

On a different matter (and i hope you dont mind me commenting) i have read some of this forum today and i hold my hands up i always thought alcoholics were a waste of time and resources-i hang my head in shame-i have seen incredible determination in you all to kick this problem and i would like to say i take my hat off to each and everyone of you here for trying and supporting others.

Hi everyone! Finally a sunny, yet very windy, day-the storms that caused chaos in the south and midwest hit us yesterday- but no tornadoes, like you others...Just rained out my daughter's softball game- they were actually playing and then it just poured, needless to say she was soaking wet...
Hope everyone is safe, happy, and healthy- Happy sunday to you all!
Ps- Kale is very a very healthy green, I hear...but have never tried it...I personally love spinach...

Vicki - thanks for explaining it to us - I love Kale! But I love any veggie except OKRA - Yuck yuck yuck! oh and Lima beans. (which aren't really a veggie anyway if we are being precise!).

I am in from a break in the garden - SO enjoying it. I have planted my Basil and done some pots for my front step and am now weeding the front area of my house. It used to get loads of sun but now my neighbours tree has gotten to the point where it doesn't get as much - I was half thinking of asking her, if I offered to pay - if she would have it trimmed back - do you think that would be terribly rude????? I loved the flowers that I grew there, and now they just don't work. She is really nice and get on well. Just don't know if an American would ask that sort of thing....... Opinions please???
