Are they that scarey? My ex mother in law - RIP absolutely terrified me. She terrified everybody for that matter. It came down to my ex husband having to come down hard on her and establish the boundaries when she came to stay, I couldnt handle her on my ownI am a part of the family of humanity. Mother-in-law a gem. No Saphs, its the F-I-L. I fear we will never live up to his expectations, or we already have as his expectations are so low. Who stays with other people for 3 weeks?
Who brings their own soap, not using yours for fear of something I dont know what, yet leaves behind the little nugget with the imperial leather logo on it for your use?
I could go on, the minor skirmishes you can laugh at, its the majors that make you sneak the bottles into the bedroom.

Re animal cruelty....I have this thing that it's still happening whether I know about it or not....it's a hard one. the last couple of times I clicked a link to support online, I really lost the effing plot for months each time.....seriously badly, repeated image flashing, nightmares. I've decided to do something, but not be lured in any way into the war stories. If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

My MIL once stayed for three months!!!!! Just after I had my first baby. She had different ideas to child rearing i.e. let the baby scream it out...he is just spoiled, toilet training at 6 weeks. ARRRGGGHHHH She was appauled that I carried the baby is a sling all the time and fed on demand. I spent those first precious months fighting with the devil and crying my eyes out. Why dont you get in first and hand him a six pack of imperial leather soap and tell him that you think that all of his unrelenting standards were right after all and now you would really like his fabulous advice on hom to conduct your life!!! Sounds like a right old B..........I am a part of the family of humanity. Not one person on this earth is a stranger to me. Rev. Ted Noffs

Try ignoring him, and being blissfully happy for no reason at all...except that you are. It drives them batshit. They need the attention and control.
Slather the attention that you withdraw from him on MIL.....how nice for you both.
It's your house and your life. Correct ?If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Only got the MIL for 3 days Bridge. They arent together anymore, she left him and although they are still friends, in her words hes a difficult prick.
Last time when I smart mouthed something, he suggested Mr HP cut of my allowance - which has gone down in family history with the locusts suggesting it every once in a while, to a much bemused Mr happy. Lucky hes got his mums personality otherwise i would be outers.
Correct Bridge, I am going to put on my big girl pants and face up to the old bugger. And you lot betta be right behind me, metaphorically speaking.
