K Folks, whisked away to poker for a bit, ate some sushi, and read a bit.
Hope Techie is okay. Sounds like he is one lucky guy. Strange, I have always been very afraid of something happening like that. I didn't actually think it WOULD happen.
What's for dinner?

Apparently he can't access MWO at the mo so we traded emails. Here's what's gone down: - (I'll prolly post this as a specific thread in General but just thought I'd let you guys know first)
Yup, I got myself somewhat broken. Both legs, one knee, and one shoulder. Reminds me of the George Thorogood song, One Bourbon, one scotch, and one beer. I?m in a rehab now. I should be 99% in the next few weeks. I gotta tell you the Saab saved my life. It was so scary. I was on the East Side Drive coming out of the city. There was a flat bed truck ahead of me. The truck hit a bump, and a unsecured piece of lumber flew into my window. I hit a pillar on the road. All I remember is wood, blood, and the EMT?s PLEASE let the community know that I love them and that I?ll be back soon..
Well I just cracked myself up on an old re run of 'Four weddings and a funeral'...but that's sobering news.....If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Couldnt agree more Ficks....just don't see this as total failure. Come back more often, whatever is happening with you, and stay connected.

Get well soon Techie, and thanks for the update Tawny. Was wondering where the lad got to.
G'day Fick's,
You sound a bit shocked that you're having wine for breakfast. With respect, if you weren't a problem drinker, this may or may not be cause for concern. But having been a 24/7 problem drinker(/thinker) for many years myself, i.e. wine for breakfast everyday, and to hell with responsibility, i know that this is a turning point for you. And the road is downhill, and it will gather pace. Problem drinking/alcoholism/this affliction/disease, whatever we call it, is progressive. It only get's worse. You are hurting yourself.
Alcohol the way WE drink it, goes way beyond the temporary nice warm buzz, and continues on for us to the destruction of our body and mind, the ripping out of our heart, the sucking up of our soul and the losing of our self respect, dignity, pride, and emotional well being. We don't look people in the eye, we reek of booze even when we don't drink, and we know we are believing the lie that grog is a stress reliever. NO. Alcohol is a stress maker. It increases anxiety, depression, and we look like shit. No energy, half arsed effort's, and ripping our selves off big time, as we live a lie. A big merry go round of bad news every day. The good news is that we can all, yes, anyone, can get off that merry go round. Sacrifice a few months AF, get through the agony, the fear, confusion, boredom (?), elation, emotional rollercoaster of those first few months AF, then you will find not only peace and incredible joy, but magic, treasure, and a happiness rarely seen in common hours. Give yourself a chance.
Know that everyone here will do anything we can to support you, or toss idea's and strategies around, etc, so keep in touch no matter whether you are drinking or not, okay? :h
