Just finished an attempt to root some rose cuttings. We'll see. Used a rooting hormone on them, hope it works, because I want some of my Momma's beautiful old roses she rooted. MB, can you grow gardenias down there? If so I'll root you some and send you.

Hubs is out working in the yard. He's done SO much this week, but it's back to work tomorrow for him, and he's already told me it will be a long day. He thinks more and more about retiring. But if he takes the new promotion, it will mean a big pay raise, and more money monthly for retirement. They base his retirement income on his last 3 years of salary, so hopefully it will work out nicely. Of course, even MORE hours. Guess we should put him a cot in his office!

Gracie was SO proud of her potted flower. She came by to get it this morning; I'd planted a snapdragon and portulaca in it, and painted a flower, like she wanted, and her name on the front. The smile on her face when she saw it, and the proud way she walked out with it, were the best gifts ever.

Hi Rog - I am just popping in too - so hot out. A snake just popped up to say hi to me ! LOL I am weeding and then laying mulch round the edge of the bed out front - went and bought some more mulch as I ran out and when I got it home, had got the wrong colour - DEAR youngest sort of volunteered to take it back and exchange it for me - after all, it IS mothers day and she IS supposed to do nice things for me - Bless her!! She asked me to plant some onions for her and the only place I have left needs weeding -so I said she could either weed or take the mulch back. after that it was no contest!! Especially when I mentioned the snake.......:H:H

Hallo dear Swannie - lovely to hear from you. And Ruby - glad that you pleased Gracie - I have portulaca out the front on the corner of the bed - love it in the sunshine. Such pretty colours, and I also have antirrhinums too. I finished tying down my daffs at last. Thank goodness. Bet you will be pleased to have hubs back to work!!

I need to get back outside and carry on weeding E's onion patch!! Want to get them in today - although it might be a bit late for them.

Sounds like everyone is having a good day and good weather! It is so nice here. I am waiting for it to get a little cooler, then I'm going to pick kale. Paul has been so sick on them steroids and the thing still hasn't gone away. It's kinda been a lonely feelin day for some reason. Ruby, don't be silly. I will ship the ginger to you overnight, so it won't die. You offering to pay me back was an insult. Ruby, I wish I could be like you, a true superwoman. You do so much for so many, making matching baby doll clothes, being such a thoughtful grandmother, always being there for all your friends, cooking fabulous meals, etc. I feel like I have very little to give of myself. I stay so tired and I never feel good, I just push myself to do what I have to do, which isn't much. I am so sad about Trucker. He really had a good heart. He was just so lonely and depressed. I wish I could have helped him. Sunni, yes, that was a pic of a pic. My ginger hasn't come up yet. Thanks for sharing about Biz. I will pray for him. Roger, thanks for the info. Paul says it's dangerous to talk on the phone when it's lightening, too. Hill, do you work that much all the time? It was so sweet of you to buy your wife gifts from the girls. I hope everybody had a great day. I single-handedly destroyed acres of garlic mustard at wood tick hollow today ...by hand! I can't imagine how I'll feel tomorrow morning! :H

Sounds like a great day, for most everyone. Sun, you have a pet snake?? I don't harm them unless they are poisonous. Can't have something happening to my babies. They're VERY good and useful for the planet, but they are completely territorial, never go far from the place they establish as home. At least I've helped Hubs overcome his terrible fear of them, to a point. He comes in and asks me now if he can kill one he finds it. Since he has to crawl under the house at times, I guess I don't blame him. Cotton mouth moccasins are mean and aggressive, but they don't range this far north (I hope!). I have known 2 children, bitten by a copperhead and a rattler, and it was bad for them for a while, but snakes usually run from people and only bite when they feel threatened. We also knew a guy leaving on vacation who went in his garage to chain down his mower, and was bitten when he put his hand underneath. And a house where an exterminator went under it and came screaming back out, saying it was infested with snake!! Creepy, huh? These were posted by a guy wanted to sell his deer lease in South Carolina. He went hunting one day, and this is what he found.........

Vick, you are amazing, and such a hard worker. Give youself credit! And you'll be working like a madwoman with your garden till fall. PLUS, you still haven't told me why you can't leave Paul with it for a couple of days, and come to the cabin. Also, MB's been the only one to HALF-ASS reply!!

I'm cooking supper now, sausage and cabbage, Hubs favorite. Must look after the food now!

Hi fen - I have no idea what sort of snake it was - a friendly one as it just popped up to say hello then scooted off! probably a garden snake. About 18" long. About 1 1/2" in diameter. We have quite a few of them around in the garden. They don't bother me at all - just startle me when they suddenly pop up!! I shall have to Google garlic mustard and see what it looks like ........OH- THAT stuff!!!!!! Good exercise though eh??

Vicki - You should never wish to be like someone else - you are special just as you are. you do more than your fair share with everyone here and you know it! How are you feeling? Is your blood sugar any better? keeping it in better levels now? hope so..... you work too hard!!

Ruby, you know I can't come to the cabin - dogs, work and other things stop me coming. i said I would try and come another time. I do hope the others can come though.

I am feeling pretty wiped out right now. Think I might go and clean up the kitchen and run the hoover through, then think about bed!!

Fen, unfortunately he would come to chat, drinking and talking about porn sites, women, booze, and really PO'd some people, and offended a lot of women. I know it was the booze talking, but still, very uncomfortable.
