Good Morning MB! Maggie is going really well - she seems to have bounced back - I took her off her pain pills/anti-inflammatory meds and she has totally changed - i think they made her feel poorly. She seems happier in herself, even to the point of bringing me a stick to throw fer her yesterday when we were outside - three throws and she had had enough but even so! I am so sorry about your boys not doing anything yesterday - that was so thoughtless of them. No excuses at all. I can understand you being upset. Why and what was the moment of sheer terror about? That you didn't drink? Or that you did?

Ruby - I ran into one of those years ago. it was about that long. Fortunately I was with someone who had a gun. We don't have much in the way of poisonous snakes in the Northeast. Some rattlers and a few copperheads. They don't show themselves much.

Good Morning quitin! Hope you have a good day today!! Those snakes are BIG - the biggest one i have seen where I live was a black snake and that one was about 4-5 feet long and rather rotund and went up the tree in the front garden where I was mowing!! I was worrying as we had bird houses up there with babies in them. I couldn't do much though - just be careful and keep looking up as I mowed under the tree! Bit creepy!!

Mama Bear, just throwing in my :cents about Mothers Day. It seems like it can be a rewarding day or a let down. I agree there is no excuse for doing nothing for you. Especially after you said you do so much, my mom is the same way, so thoughtful. I can tell you my brother is 36 and he still hasn't got it right. My mom was feeling a bit disappointed with the lack of thought from her son. I live half way around the world and still make sure to get something there in time, as well as call. Anyways, just saying. My brother has been a bit thoughtless his whole life, even though it doesn't seem intentional.
One more thing: is non alcoholic beer out of the question?

We have some pretty scary snakes here in Oz too, but I'm more afraid of all the killer spiders. I am from California, and moving here I was in for a shock with spiders bigger than my hand just cruising through the house. Yuck!:bonkers:

SST, I'd just be careful with non-AL beer. Some find it a trigger, and it DOES contain a bit of AL. But it all comes down to what works works for each of us, what we decide, what we CAN do. So great to see you check in here, too.
Sun, QT, if I ever saw a snake that big here I'd even prob run screaming. They live mostly in the warmer, even coastal areas, and the timber rattlers are up in the high elevations. I know God has a reason for them, just haven't figured it out yet. Hate to tell you, but the snake was prob going up the tree to eat the baby birds or eggs in the nest. It's what they do. Possums do too. SOOOoooo, I have dogs, who hate snakes.
Jan, that just SUCKS!!!!! Don't make excuses for the little miscreants. And your husband should give them a good tongue lashing! It's his job as a father to teach his sons to show respect, esp to their mother. (Sorry, on my high horse a bit!) It took my son a bit to get it right, and he still seems to suffer through his efforts, but he makes them. I got to talk to everyone of my kids/grandkids yesterday, and that was the best for me! Taylor's BF was with her, and I asked her what he'd done for his mother. He said 'nothing yet', and I chewed him out!! He promised to call her shortly!! :H

Hey everyone. I'm at work so just a quick check in. I started back on the antabuse yesterday. I went 2 months the first time I tried it and then 3 months the second time I tried it. So, I'm going back to what works for me.
I'm really sorry that I have not been a good friend to all of you during this latest bout of depression. But, I'm trying to claw my way back up.
I have been thinking of you all but just was feeling too lost to grab on.
