    Army Thread 2nd May

Good morning all. Hope everyone is well.
I have to admit, I'm not in a great place today.
All the stuff that went on yesterday has really got to me. I don't want to drag it all up, so I'm specifically talking about my feelings. As most of you know, I know the person involved in real life. In the flesh. She lives 15 mins from me. To hear some of the things that were said have really got to me.
It's not a prob drink wise for me. If anything, it's galvanised my will not too. But I was the person who introduced her here, let her become friends with ppl I hold close to me, and to see and hear the things said to ppl here, lovely ppl has really eaten away at me these last few days. It's made me question my own judgement if I'm honest.
Anyway, I just had to get that out there. If it wasn't for MWO and some very special ppl here in the army, I don't know if I'd be here today. This will pass I'm sure, but I have to live with it in real life and see this person. At the mo I just want to scream!
Have a great day everyone. And thanks for being there.
    To Infinity And Beyond!!

            Good Morning Troopers.

:hallo: to Startypants, Froglet, Anon and Cy and to all who drop by later.

Cy, I can understand how bad you feel since, as you say, you introduced Kitty to MWO and the Army. (I'm using her name because we all know who we're talking about so what would be the point not to.) I know that she is a friend of yours in real life and not just by way of this forum. I assume that you introduced her to MWO with the hope that she would use the tools available here and the support and advice from other members to help her get a handle on her drinking and manage to get and stay sober. And you did a good thing. That's what this site is for. However, you can only do so much for a person and this forum can only do so much. Many people have issues that require therapy whether it be by counseling or by medication prescribed by a doctor. A lot of people need those along with the support group they belong to.

And another thing. Alcohol affects people in different ways as you know. My husband has a few drinks occasionally and turns into a happy albeit silly person, always singing and pretending to direct an orchestra. My Brother-in-law on the other hand, drinks a couple of glasses of wine with his meal or a beer and is fine. Give him two whiskeys and he turns into a very nasty, sarcastic person which is not the norm for him. (My sister has put her foot down that he only gets ONE whiskey and no more when he wants to indulge.)
What I'm saying is that people who are normally sweet and fun to be around can get mean and nasty while drinking and that is something we can't always foresee. So please don't feel bad that you introduced Kitty to this forum and that she got angry and defensive and insulting while drinking. That had nothing to do with you and certainly was nothing you could have done anything about. Her words have upset us all but it was AL and Kitty talking, not Kitty by herself. Hopefully she will realize how her words have hurt, saddened and/or angered the people she was talking to and make her realize that she needs to get serious about dealing with her issues, alcohol being but one of them. I know, I know, another long-winded post by Stirly but I just want you to know that we understand and that you don't need to feel guilty about what went on here yesterday. You had no part in it. As for dealing with Kitty in real life, maybe if you sat her down and had a good talk with her about how her actions affected you, she might take a good look at things from another point of view.

Don't forget to keep focused on your own sobriety. Put yourself and your daughter first above all and don't let yourself get pulled down by other people's issues. :huggy

Yes guys, yesterday's stuff was sad. It's always sad when there's crappy stuff happening on your 'home' thread but hey - today's a new day, eh?

Mrs. A, it's a lovely day here as well. I've a sprig of lilacs sitting on my desk and the gentle aroma has filled the whole room and the sun is shining in.

Today is indeed a new day Tawny, just as it always is. And it's up to us to make the best of it no matter what others do and say. BTW, we haven't had pictures of your girls for some time. I trust they are well and cluck, cluck, clucking away.

On a different note, I read your post about Bin Landen. Apprehensive is a good word. Troubled and uncertain also come to mind...

Morning folks, Cy you have absolutely nothing to feel bad about. Introducing anyone to MWO is only ever done for one selfless reason, to try and help that person. We have no control how AL effects other people's behaviour.
In other news the extermination of a mass murder is good news but I can't help feel the same way I did after 9/11, oh dear now what happens next, more loss of innocent lives no doubt.
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Thank you stirls and everyone. I am going to do exactly what it is and put it in the past.
All I can do is be there if Kitty truely wants help, and move on with my own life and sobriety.
On a more serious note, my manflu is baaaaaddd!!
Like others, I am glad Bin Laden is dead, but he was one of many, and I worry about the backlash from this killing.

Hiya KTABbers. That was my thought as well. New leader, continued fighting and deaths. And to what purpose....

Off to walk my dogger. Wishing you all a productive, satisfying day...
