    Army Thread 2nd May

Hiya Inchy and JC - why do these people have to start work so early? When I had a major refurbishment of my house done a couple of years back, I gave the builders a key and told them to let themselves in each day and try not to bother me until I surfaced about three hours later. There are advantages to being deaf.

It's the AFness, don't let it put you off though. It will pass.

Trouble is with me alcohol cocked up me sleep for too many years to mention so I'm still not a good sleeper.

Reccy, don't mind them coming early as it means they leave early. You may be deaf, hun, but a large black Labrador bouncing on the bed would sharp wake you up.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Maybe see if you can get your GP to prescribe you some sleeping pills Inchy. I have some for the nights when I don't drink. They do help a tiny bit, though I usually have to take at least two to get much benefit. It's different for different people though.

How many years were you drinking JC?

ooh crikey, let me think about 1999 when it spiralled out of control, 2001 I finally admitted it and started on the long road that got me here today.

But always been a big drinker. Do you know I don't think I've ever gone anywhere and had only one drink now I come to think of it.

thanks guys, I know its afness, always the worst part for me is the lack of sleep and crazy dreams, its usually what puts me off trying, or convinces me to ahev antoher drink ('if i don't i won't sleep and I'll be annoyed tomorrow')
I have faced it, a life wasted, and I am never going back there again

To ya'll my name is inchy. I am an alcoholic - and priority number one is making it to the end of this day AF. No excuses.

So you did most of your heavy drinking in your forties then? Me too. Seems to be a recurring theme. I'm sure there's an explanation. Maybe we just build up emotional baggage over time and when we get to midlife it overwhelms us?

                      Night Inchy.

Interesting JC. My father died Christmas Eve 2003 from meningitis and that was a trigger that sent my drinking shooting up, though I would have ended up drinking more anyway.

Anyway, gonna call it a day here. Catch you tomorrow, hopefully.

                      Night.
