Ahh - I remember those sort of meetings. Very hard to stay awake.

Hi all. Just a quick checkin from me. It's an emotional time in Cassland just now and I am really busy too so prob won't be around much over the next week. Will pop in and let you know I am ok though.

Hey everyone. Just quickly checking in - seems I am in the same way as you Cass. Just have not "felt it" to post alot. Not drinking, just, well I don't know what the hell is going on. Today I got word that a very dear friend whom I saw about a week ago is now in hospice. Rare form of colon cancer. She is only 35. I had just been to her house and she did not look good, but she is so tough I did not think this could beat her. Apparently she has very little time left. I am not sure she is accepting visitors and in all honesty, I don't know if I could handle seeing another person die before my eyes. Maybe I am selfish, but I am just not that strong. Not that I will start drinking, but emotionally I am not sure it would be good for me. I had sent a note to her friend since I had not heard back from her in a few days - I figured she was busy with threatment, etc. Then I got a note back she had been put in hospice and taken off everything. Hit me like a knife through my heart. So sad.

                Hiya Molly and Cassia,

Sorry Cass, but I share Molly's feelings about the banks. In particular I wish the Irish govt had allowed the Irish banks to fail - instead the Irish people are being left to foot a bill that is so large it probably can't ever be paid. And the UK banks infuriate me, both with their shitty service and with their reckless behaviour in the financial markets. And don't let me get started on the US banks or I'll throw a wobbly.:durn:

                          How terribly, terribly sad.

My best friend had breast cancer and she went into hospital for her last few weeks she refused visitors apart from her family to save us from seeing her so ill. Last time I saw her alive was the day my daughter found out she was going to Uni. So I remember that day with a lot of laughter.

Don't know where that came from just wanted to say I know what you're going through.

Reccie - sorry, I don't remember saying anything about the banks. I work for a bank and I love my job but like any industry mistakes were made and if you allow any company to operate without sufficient regulation then they will take advantage. I think the regulator have a lot to answer for and we were all (me included) happy to tale advantage of the cheap rates when they were available. While you obviously have strong feelings about the us banks at least the is government allowed them to fail and should also be noted that those banks in the us who took the tarp money have largely paid it back.

What is grossly unfair is that the people who benefited the most from the lenient credit conditions - the rich - are not suffering like the poorer in society which is the real travesty.
