Family wedding with no alcohol - even a night in dublin with NO ALCOHOL!
The wedding was tough - aside from my wife and a few friends here, no one knows about my AF life. At the reception I drank just orange juice when everyone was with champagne, and water during dinner. afterwards i stuck with tonic with some lime. I craved to drink, i really did - but whenever it hit me i just tried to stay focus on my resolve.
My wife, god love her, in support stayed AF for the night. We danced and partied with friends and family, and i remember every single thing. We went to bed at 1am and woke the next morning fresh and ready for a day of driving around the west coast of the country. (Galway to The Burren and back again)
Yesteday, we met with my cousins in Dublin for lunch and "a drink". I again surfed my urge, and sat with a coffee in the pub when guinness was being downed. I didn't excuse it, and no one asked. My wife drank a couple of pints of guinness. One of the first things i said to her when I went AF was that this was my battle, not hers. She is extremely supportive and i think the lack of a drinking partner has cut down her levels.
Now, aside from today where once i again I will be AF - a coming music festival in barcelona is on my mind. My resolve is steady, however I still worry about it - however there are 14 days between
