I don't understand your confusion about my music journey, so I'll try to clarify:
-Grew up with mother constantly listening to American pop music radio in the '50's and 60's; father listened to country radio station--I hated it. Side note: neither drank.
50's--Elvis, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Fats Domino, etc.
60's--Bristish Invasion (my claim to fame is that I saw the Beatles in "66

60's-70's--Rock 'n Roll heaven, some drugs included, but no problems
'81--married a very good lead guitar player, and luthier. Plays and builds mean guitars.
'81 to present--listen to everything but bluegrass and opera, and try to hear what's going on. I appreciate that opera and bluegrass are good music, but my brain doesn't like them.
Keith Richards is my anti-hero. His new bio is fabulous. How did the man abuse himself so badly, but is still around? Same for Clapton. Greg Allman can't make a complete sentence. Must have hung around Ozzy too much.
Whenever I would drink, I wanted to dance and dance. Drinking now--no. Dancing--not yet. All I need to do is put on some Marvin Gaye, and I would. On second thought, it's too early here
Make sense?
P.S. When I jokingly want to give my husband a hard time, I ask him to play Eddie Van Halen's riff in Michael Jackson's "Beat It." He humbly says, "I can't do it." :H
