Mornin All.
Looking like another sprinkling day weather-wise here... Off & on showers & clouds,...imagine that, in Oregon!
Sun: yes to your question about me taking Topa. I've been on it for about 7 yrs now,(since I found MWO). It does seem to help, I only take 100mg a day of it. Because of of my seizure disorder I also take 400mg Dilantin. Topa is also an anti-convulsant, so hopefully w/the 2 combined, I can keep them under control. I did go for 10yrs w/out any seizures, then last Nov, out of the blue...I somehow ended up w/a hemetoma, 3 seizures, a life flight ambulance, (as well as 3 ground transports)to Portland, w/a week in ICU.
Kinda "over-rated", but I guess "I'm hard to kill"
Too bad for my ex-Hubby ha ha
On a liter note.... Are you taking Topa? I also think L-glut is really helpfull.
Roger: you can drive my truck any time, as I'm not driving it these days. (DUI on New Yrs Eve....damnitt! stupid me!) It's a little GMC "rust bucket", but it runs great! Gets my kayak to the river. Too bad we're on opposite corners of the country!
Ruby: Enjoy your woodchuckin & weeding! I did a bit of that yesterday. Looking forward to having fresh spinach, basil, peppers & strawberries soon!
Tony: That job thing might just be a blessing in disguise,...maybe something better is in the plans for you...Think big! I know last year I took on a job from hell, and ended up having my old boss call me back shortly after...I ended up quiting the hell job that night...
Blonde: Welcome! I'm an "old modder" from way back. But @ present I'm abstaining, mostly because of the courts decision (DUI), but it's feeling suprisingly good. I know it's time none the less. I do tkae Topa, & feel like L-glut & exercise are key. I really have to stick to a routine, itseems for me to be acountable.
MamaB: I wonder if you couldmake payments & work w/the IRS, if they'd be willing to drop some of the $ they say you owe. I've heard of agency's that will work w/you. Not familiar w/any names of them tho. They sure do stick ya any way they can, don't they. Doesnt seem right or legal really. They pulled some real crap on me w/trying to get my escrow closed...it's turning into a bad joke almost. My tax "refunds" have been seized, to cover court fees from my DUI, I know it's my own fault, but I'm not delinquint in any payments, and I'm still not sure about theBAC reading... I did see thevideo of my arrest. I was having no problem announciating whatsoever...unfortunately. You could hear & understand EVERY SINGLE WORD I HAD TO SAY!! They even arrested my doggie! That's when my language gotreally colorful (took him to the pound) He did me proud tho,
....He dug out!Set himself free!
It was pretty bad when they denied my meds in jail tho. But that's a whole diff chapter...
Hillside: Yes indeed crazy weather! Glad you're having fun w/your son. Will summer ever friggin get here thisyear?
OK, well I hope this finds ALL well, and if not, soon to better...
Hugs & blessings ,

Tony LOL:H
I picked that name back when I joined MWO, (back in the "Olden Days...") when we only had 2 options of posts to go to "Modders" or "Abstainers"...We also has "Tell us your story".
It was pretty basic. Goos thing for me, since I was still getting used to running water, (I hadjust moved back to Oregon, after livingin a treehouse in Colo for 18 yrs w/no runnin water...)
I used to getdrunk & say to my (now Ex Hubby), "I'm not SaintFuckin Jude!"
Whenever he'd get on my case for watever it might have been (always somethin)
Thank God I dont have to try to please him anymore! The only thing worth stealing is a kiss...:flower:zwink:

Yo Peeps--another slow day here. I put six ads on Kijiji for the store and another for my room. Have someone coming again Monday to look at the room. Fennel--you need to teach your cousins road safety--I almost hit one on the way to work today! I slowed but there was oncoming traffic and nowhere to go. Thank God he/she didn't freeze. Tony sorry about the job--keep volunteering in the meantime if you can. Jude! You said the f*ck word! I like you!! Living off the grid is impressive too.Mama those numbers sure don't add up, hope you get to the bottom of this. I know the penalties and interest can rack up pretty fast but the initial amount is off base. Hey Sunshine--hope your day is going well--no mail yet.
They were talking postal strike but haven't heard anything yet. Almost time to close-must remember power cord. SSH--thinking of you and Grateful too. Be well friends.xo

I can't believe it! I lost a whole page posts! When will I learn patience, so I'll stop going through all these trials? Ugh! Hey, dear family! I have missed all of you so much! I had a nice visit with my family, but I am absolutely exhausted and I pray that no one else comes to visit me and I don't have to go home until Father's day, so I can REST and keep up with the garden! It is 102 degrees here and the humidity makes it hard to breath and I spend 2 hours everyday picking the garden. We need rain so badly! Oh, well, I can't focus on all that. We all have problems and if I focus on helping others, my problems won't seem so big.
Welcome to our family, SL, life is so hard sometimes, but it makes us stronger and like you said, drinking would only make it alot worse. We all are struggling in some way or another, but it is so nice to have friends that understand and care, so vent to us, cause we do care! Welcome, Blond! We are so happy to have you join our family and we are looking forward to getting to know you. I'm inspired that you made it 70 AF days before relapsing. I couldn't get past a month for a long time. You have the desire, the strength and have gained alot of wisdom, so you can do this and we are here to help you. Welcome, Judie! I am so sorry for what all you have been through. I can so relate to health problems. Last year, I was in ICU for 7 days, doped up on domperine, having horrible illusinations and it was pure hell! Your DUI experience sounds like a nightmare, too. You must be a strong, wise person after all you have gone through. Grateful, you sound so tired and discouraged. I called you this morning and left word with Jimmy for you to call me. All we can do is pray for our nation and trust God to help us get through it all. You are a blessing to others and God always blesses blessing hands. MB, this is horrible news! It sounds like you need to talk to one of those attorneys who specialize in getting rid of your IRS debt. You have been through so much, but you also have become strong enough to fight that demon! You know to call one of us if you need someone, a shoulder to cry on or scream at. Roger, so sorry to here of your vehecle troubles. I hope you get it all worked out. Fennel, congrats on getting your internet or computer back? RC, I love the pics of the therapy room and the sauna. You've got everything looking so good! Hill, you sound so good and almost at 4 months! Congrats! Tony, I am so sorry you didn't get that job, but I am sure God has an even better job for you. Sunshine, I think I only have one squirrel, but he eats all the food in my feeder every single night! Hugs and Love to all of you I have missed. Better post before I lose all this! I love you all and each of you inspire me! Love, VickiI'm not what I should be, I'm not what I could be. I'm definetly not who I want to be,
but I'm sure not who I used to be!

FARINFRARED-BLOG
Wednesday, June 1, 2011
I am 51 and have had my first Far Infrared Sauna today. I’ve been following their use since 2006 as they began to hit maintstream via articles in natural health publications. I have installed one in my health store because I feel they can offer a multitude of benefits, particularly for those who have reached the Golden Years. That does not discount the benefits for the young, active or otherwise experiencing health problems. I have followed a relatively healthy lifestyle since my teens, paying particular attention to diet, spirituality and physical activity. At 51 I still have health concerns—have smoked (not heavily) since 13—I drink alcohol(preferably Pinot Noir red wine) mostly moderately but sometimes heavily. Rheumatoid Arthritis and other Auto Immune diseases like MS and Cancer and Bone Loss is prevalent in my genes.
First session at 110F—I make a point of moving my body position to have direct contact with the emitters(not touching them). I did not sweat much but I did notice the bunions on my feet feeling less noticeable and more comfortable. They actually buzzed/throbbed a bit. My severely injured knee that causes no pain due to supplementation also felt less strain and tense. My face tissue glowed and I felt energized.
2nd session at 130F—Same moving of positions and produced a sweat after 15 minutes. Obviously my body likes the heat. My bunions feel even better and I have more energy afterwards. My back and neck seem more relaxed but I am acutely more aware of my posture.
3rd session at 140F—Go for broke. I sweat more profusely but not until the 15 minute mark. Keep in mind I enter the sauna at about 125F. I feel like I’m sweating some inches away—ok maybe ? or ? inches. My skin all over feels silkier. I have even more energy at the end of the day than I’ve had for months/years. I do some simple stretches while in the sauna and I can reach my finger tips during an exercise I haven’t been able to do for a year. Joint mobility is definitely improved. A friend comments on how rosy and clear my complexion is.
4th session-June 4, 2011
Wow! I’m at 130F within 5 minutes. I still don’t sweat much until the 15 minute mark but it is more profuse. What I really notice is my back and neck range as I drive home after. My skin is improved more on my face and on my legs and gluts—small bumps are now smoother. Energy is such that I wanted to record my results and start this blog. Also—are you ready? I feel like I have more muscle definition without effort! I did some gentle stretching upon exit of the sauna since I felt so relaxed and energized.
Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

The Journey begins here so get YOUR ASSES IN GEAR!!!! for june
Hi Gang! Day 3 for me and feeling great! Like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Thank you for your warm welcomes, you seem like a fun and quirky bunch. I'm sure I'll fit right in. Sunshine and Hill, you asked that I introduce myself a bit more. So here goes in a nutshell: I have been drinking heavily since my early 20's, I'm now in my late 30's. My poison of choice is red wine. I was up 2 almost 1 big bottle a night...starting in when I got home from work around 6PM to 9PM, then passing out to bed and waking up in the wee hours of the morning with the shame and hangover that we all know too well. I started lurking on MWO in early January of this year. MWO popped up when I was trying to find out how many carbs in a glass of wine as I was about to start Atkins (new diet, new year, right?) and I knew that I wasn't supposed to drink on Atkins to really do it right, but I thought if I counted the carbs in my daily allowance, I would be OK. Anyway, one link went to another and thank God I stumbled on this site...it changed my life for the better. I started posted about a week later after I decided to give up AL. And I did it cold turkey. I was AF for 70 days, then my husband and I took a trip to the Caribbean...Jamaica of all places where you basically go to get f'd up for your vacation. We had booked it before I decided to go AF as an anniversary gift to ourselves as we got married there in 2010. I tried to obstain from AL while there but I changed into my old self and thought I could manage to drink just on my vacation and go back to my sober self when we got back home. Yeah, right. I have struggled to give it up every day since late March. I had stopped coming on MWO and just started to last week. So, here I am at day 3 and it's obvious that this website has a great deal to do in keeping me sober! Day 1 and 2 were tough, but today I seem to sail through just fine, without the craving of AL during the witching hour, which is my toughest. I find that eating small snacks throughout the day help to curb that severe hunger that makes me want a drink by the end of the day. As for the low carb diet, I really only wanted to loose a few pounds for Jamaica and when I stopped drinking for those 2 months, my weight came off easily and I looked much more toned. Once I started drinking again, the extra pounds and bloat came back. I love my life when I am sober and could kick myself for going back for a stint but we all live and learn, right? Thanks for your warm welcomes and I hope to be around for a long, long time! Have a great weekend everyone and sorry for the novelWhatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Here here to the weight loss Blonde! Ive been putting away the beers for 20 plus years, and couldnt figure out why my stomach was growing......LOL
Ive done a lot of research on AL and its effects on weight. I did NOT know that AL actually slows down your metabolism......AND your body will work on getting rid of the AL before it goes to work on anything else......because its POISON..............Living on Planet Sober since 05/02/11

Nelz, I agree that AL makes it difficult to shed pounds if that is your goal. For me, I wanted to get rid of the belly bloat that AL seems to create for me. And a puffy face. I could notice it and I'm not sure anyone else could because I am considered to be "thin". But my abs sure did tone up nice as soon as I stopped drinking a bottle of wine every night and I hope this time around will be the same! I did read that our liver will process the substance of AL first to get it out of our bodies as soon as possible because it is an unnatural substance to the human body, yes, a poison. And your body will use lots and lots of its water to get it out of our body as fast as it can and that's why we get so dehydrated the next morning! Alcohol sucks, plain and simple.Whatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. What you give to people is what they eventually give back to you. Don't do the math. Just increase your LOVE.
