My other addiction....

Shoes. I love shoes and I will buy them at any time. Need be damned.

Last night I went to a Christmas party and wore a pair of 3 inch black heels. I love them. Today - my calves are killing me. I haven't worn heels much during my time away from work. WOW. Only a man could create such a beautiful yet torturous device as the 3+ inch heel.

Which doesn't explain why my husband doesn't understand that, yes, the 10 black pairs of heels in closet are all different and yes, I do need them all!!!

My husband has 3 pairs of shoes - gardening shoes, sandshoes and work shoes.

He does not understand that I have more that 3 pairs!!!!

I never really considered myself a 'shoe person'. That is until I went to the annual Nordstroms shoe sale. Now I need another closet.

I know us guys are not supposed to be into shoes, but my collection is more functional, and not so much for looks.

I have 5 pair of running and fitness shoes. New Balance, Nike, ASICS, and Adidas. Believe it or not, thats what I wear to work most days. The ASICS are the best real running shoe for me. New Balance 991's are like walking on soft cushions of air. Nike seems to have slipped a bit in quality over the last 20 years.

About 4 pair of various outdoor hiking, hunting boots. Camo hunters, black military Rockys for below zero use, waterproof mudders, and some rock climbing hikers as well. ONe episode of near footsie frost-bite, and you learn that cheap is not good. The Rockys are superior to GI military supply I hear. They should be for the $$.

Dress shoes, SAS loafers, Freeman penny loafers, and the Bostonian cap toe oxfords. Different colors for different dress slacks. SAS and Freeman very comfortable. Although the Bostonians are the most expensive, they hurt the most. Never figured that one out, but they look like a million bucks for formal occasions.

Two pair outdoor sandals. Tevas and Nke. Good for parasailing, and on board the boats in summer. The Tevas have great traction on stream bottoms when fly fishing. Nothing like letting cold Rocky Mountain stream water run over your tootsies.

Also Schimano bicycling shoes, for the clipless cleat pedals. Got the little locking cleat on the bottom.

Finally some worn out running shoes, with paint splatters on them. Not to hard to guess what those are for.

Comfort and function are main priorities. Probably have a few others, but thats enough for now.

Well, I gave up Cigs and replaced them with Nicorette gum. Now I smell better, but I walk around all day like a bovine.....chewing.....chewing.......chewing. I wonder what that stuff is doing to my innards.
