I had a so-so day, thanks Panno. I'm cheating with dinner tonight - just popped some chicken pieces into the oven with a packet of store-bought sauce over it. Couscous & some gem squash to go with it.
      I'll do whatever it takes

Fingers crossed Inchy. Hopefully he will learn from this and his brush with the law. I think teenagers are under a lot more pressures nowadays then I was at that age.

Edit: I meant to say bleedin deady & rapid.

                    Hiya Tabbers

Dawg... my greatest fear at age sixteen was being expelled from school for smoking cigarettes.

I only sneaked the odd beer from the fridge every few months back then. Although it deteriorated rapidly from age 18 onwards.

xICInchy - so glad to hear that. Perhaps this scare will be a good lesson to your brother and he'll ask for help to get himself straightened out. A damn shame to be so young and mixed up with the wrong people and substances. Hoping he sees that he's on very dangerous ground messing with those people.

BTW - Reccie, you really are a dear person and what a generous offer that was. :h

For "cheating", that sounds mighty tasty to me Mr. Tiptronic.

We had a fab meal last night. It was Mr. Stirly's name day yesterday and he took the family and some friends out for grilled lamb chops and a great number of trimmings. We stuffed ourselves and had just asked for the bill when the waitress came over and asked if we'd like some "loukoumades"? The restaurant was treating. They're little doughnut balls served warm in a honey syrup with cinnamon sprinkled on them. Last night they added a few scoops of vanilla ice cream on top. Heaven...
Here's a link to the restaurant or "taverna" as it is more properly called here. ???????? - ?????????? - ?? ????????? ??? ??????????? (???????-??????????) - ?????????? ?????? : ?????????? ????? : estiatoria.gr It's a stone building with a lot of old household things like sewing machines, kettles and irons and some small agricultural things like hand plows and donkey saddles. I love the atmosphere, the food is to die for and on the weekends they have live music. Oh, and a lot of the chairs have hand-painted pictures on them and the tables have a little drawer in front of each seat that has napkins in it. Something you don't usually find. The meal started off with huge platters of grilled bread drizzled with EVOO, salt and oregano. Frankly, it was so yummy I could have done with just that and their famous salad. Oh dear, someone's going to accuse me of food porn again....:H

How is the running Panno??Hiya Mrs. A. Have you ever tried stuffed tomatoes - with rice, onion, parsley and black currants. They're to die for. Slices of potato cooked with them in the pan and lots of EVOO for dipping your bread in. You can stuff green peppers along with the tomatoes and they add extra flavour to the food. Classic Greek recipe. I learned to make them from my dear Father-in-Law and it is one food my family never orders when we go out because Mrs. Stirly's are the best evah. Not bragging because it's not my recipe, I just paid very close attention when learning how to make them.

Tips, over here they put a little sugar in all the recipes using fresh tomatoes. I never do. My mother used to serve us warm canned tomatoes with sugar on them as a veggie when we were young and I always hated them.:yuk: Still do. I like giving the food sweetness from something else, such as lots of onions or, as in the recipe above, from the currants.
