There's something I want to say, and yes, it's mostly to women who've been in 'relationships' a while. If you're here, you recognize you are not your best. But, if you've worked. Tried. Loved. In your life, and nothing is coming back to you from the person in your life you've chosen, or worse, if what you're getting back is complaints, insults, hostility. Never so much as a hug, an arm around your shoulder. ONE compliment. And worse, if there is ever harm or violence, listen.
If you think he will change. If you think he will understand. If you think he will never do it again, or move on to the ones you love, or that it's in some way your fault , even with AL, I have something to tell you. If you play the lottery, your chances of becoming fabulously wealthy are MUCH higher than any of the above.
I can't tell everyone what to do, but drinking is NOT the answer. But there is a sweet, special something, in each of us. It will die after we neglect it too long. And the person we would become is someone we would not today recognize, only pity if we saw them.
I'm sorry, I know I've gotten too pithy and deep, but there is a need sometimes, to tell everyone to do what they said in grade school: STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN. I care too much about you all not to speak up.

Hey All--busy but good day-kinda sorta. More traffic and sales--so there's still a dangling carrot.
Grateful--you never sound messed up to me--just isolated and I understand that self imposed isolation that is due to circumstances.
Ruby-great job on the smokes! Are you still going strong? I think I got your message to those who have been in long term relationships. Mine was 17 years and I had to move along. Who knew the fall out of that.... I would not change that decision though.

And I'm sorry lest you think I'm posting about me, because I've have a spat. I'm not, even though Himself is not in my best graces as we speak, I was not talking of me in the broader sense. Maybe it's because I've gotten to a point where the important each day is measured differently, or that I know I'll eat tomorrow, or whatever. It's that I'm trying to say, if you're gonna be worried, unhappy, about tomorrow, let it be on your terms. Then YOU choose whether you will drink, and whether you can look back on your day without regrets. And NOT allow someone else to do it, when we are trying to help them. Sometimes it's time to just quit.

Sorry (in a way!) I went on about things yest, but I had an experience with someone, as well as a sort of multi-crap pile up lately in my expected duties, AND a total lack of tobacco in my life (I'm thinking of writing a love poem to Virginia Slim's!!) has me frenetic. Everytime I try and simplify, something else moves into the space I clear. I'm SOOOOOoooo sorry for complaining, I know it's not productive. I'll work myself out just fine.
