Biz, I'm holding you in my prayers through this hearing. I DO understand what it's like trying to do our best, work, support those we love, when we've been injured in the process of doing just that! I've been reading about the heat, the record breaking temps everywhere, and though it's hot and humid here, the temps have been around 90F, with lots of thundershowers, and it hasn't been unbearable. Our humidity is really the kicker, but we have it because of all the moisture and vegetation, so I'm NOT going to complain! Plus, we Southerners have dealt with it for generations, so we've adapted! :H Work on that gardening, friend. It's good for your family, saves money, and it's great to reconnect with the soil.
MB, I'm sure you're gone, but SO good to hear you're little garden is growing. What I said to Biz re: gardening applies to you too. I'm the oldest here (hear that, Sunni!?) and with time, I've come to realize what is really important in life. Do I know the secrets? No. No one does, but the importance of THINGS disappears, and we get back, if we're lucky, to the REAL things that matter.
Vick, I get e-mails (and I don't really remember how they started) from a group I think you would enjoy. gratefulness.org What I read when I have time from them is sometimes so close to how I'm thinking these days. This goes for Grateful, and others, too. ' And then again, if we give and give and give and never stop to receive, we’re in as much trouble as if we exhaled constantly and forgot to inhale!'
I've made a half dozen calls already, and arranged for my MIL to get her handicapped parking placard. It would have taken her forever, IF she could have figured it out at all. I called to give her the info, and got into all her complaints and worries over my children and grandchildren, so had to cut her off since it's not productive. I guess what I'm saying, in my long-winded way, is that we HAVE to search each day for the joy in our lives. Not the easy way out, not an excuse for our behavior or our situation, not sitting in front of the TV or computer waiting on things to get better, but how to find joy in who and where we are now.
Sorry, I've philosophised again. And I am NOT talking about anyone here or in my life, just me. Feeling very reflective lately. I'm off now to check out some ancient apple trees in the nearby woods, to see if I can collect enough apples to make up something. Have a good day, ya'll.

I hope to let calgon take me away..... Ruby, being he caretaker that I am, it is so hard NOT to baby him, even though I know it is the consequences of his choices, but he is in so much pain! I'm glad your hubby is gone, so you can take it easy today. No cleaning, cooking or shopping. Just lay around and rest your exhausted body. You have really inspired me to quit smoking! My first step was to take every ashtray out of the house and only allow myself to go into the 100+ degrees heat to smoke and so yesterday, I only smoked 1/2 pack, instead of my usual pack a day! Next step...buy non-menthol no name brand horrible cigs. Hopefully, these changes will help me give them up for good. Thank you for inspiring me, Ruby! Nora, don't ever feel ashamed to say anything here. We are all here to talk about our feelings and problems and to encourage one another! Like Ruby said, even if no one replies, it makes us feel better to write it down and read it back to ourselves! I'm so glad you were able to get your nephew to the doctor and I pray he gets better soon. MB, glad you didn't cut your thumb off! That sounds like something I would do! I pray it heals quickly. Good Morning - sorry I haven't been posting much lately - all sorts of stuff going through my head, but I am here, which is the important thing right? Welcome back Fen - we have missed you - although I have doubled up on my efforts to keep my bird seed safe from the squirrels. They are costing me a fortune feeding them as well as the birds.

Biz - good luck with the workmans comp thing - is this the same one that has been going on for ever? I can't believe it is taking them so long to get it sorted!!

Ruby - dear Ruby, none of us mind your philosophizing in the slightest (well I hope the others don't - I don't) - after all, old people have to be given some leeway don't they? Sometimes you say some things to give us pause for thought.... other times ... well I just think you are an old lady rambling :H.

Vicki - it has been super hot here too - yesterday was unbearable - I think the heat index was about 110 or something equally ridiculous. today is supposed to be more of the same - just checked the on-line weather and the heat index is already 113. I need to get outside today but am not sure I can do it in this heat.

Jan - your poor thumb! As Fen says - keep it clean - hope it is okay - hope your trip goes okay!

Nora - I am not surprised you are feeling overwhelmed - just having a little one that isn't feeling good - and with earache - poor soul. Hopefully the meds have kicked in. Hang in there my friend - and never worry about what you say here - talk about you all you want - it is nice to hear about you! you are usually so quiet.

Obviously, Tony and I are alone. TMB and I just took a long Gator ride, no apples but BUCKETS of pears! Syncing up my kitchen for their canning. Wish yous all were closer, I'd send you BUSHELS! PLUS, I have 4 more trees on other properties, loaded down. Need to look up all the pear recipes I can. Momma had a lot, so I'll do them, but I'm running out of room! One tree was planted by my ggrandfather. Momma had a speach/dyslexia problem, and she made 'Pear Radish!!' (It was pear relish, and it's delish.) I'll pick and give away all I can. The animals get the rest.
I've been up SO long, it feels. Will take a nap, then the critters and I will go in search of the other wild things growing that have been long forgotten by the new 'subdivision' types who've moved in.

Ooooh, others popped up! Sun, 'other times????' DON'T make me come up there!!!

Vick, it's a VERY big, comfie bed. And so is the Fish/Boy's room. I don't have Calgon, but lots of other soothing, good smelling stuff, and candles. The main thing I want is for everyone to relax, forget their problems, and enjoy just being away from their normal day. Your Hubby made his bed. I don't mean to be mean, but you certainly understand this is his choice, and pampering him is the same as enabling. Let him understand his consequences, because this is HIS decision. And it's yours to live with it or not. Being a soft heart is a drawback here, and if you dig into your memories, have YOU been treated nicely in your attempts to deal with AL? Good job on the cigs. I STILL want to inflict pain on someone, but won't, I hope. The old adage : Stop, Look, and Listen, applies to so much.

Morning all - Quick fly by to let you know that I'm here. Poor baby was up a couple times during the night hurting so bad. Still hurting really bad this morning. Think I'll be calling the advise nurse this morning to see if I need to take him back in. Poor little guy.

Nora, they SHOULD give the child something for the pain! I'm not an advocate of lots of easy pain meds, but DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try the cold drops in his ears, and I'd CERTAINLY recommend he go to an ENT to find the root of this. Most children will not cry and whine in pain unless there is really something wrong. Mainly, keep an I on him for fever. Makes me mad at the ER doc just thinking about it! (Can you tell this Mimzy gets fierce over babies!! :H) I know you are doing a wonderful job with him, and they must adore being with you. I never did ask - what do they call you?
So much has gone on here today (Hubs is trying to sleep to go back in and work all night, cousin's daughter who has adopted me as her mom has called twice, is having medical and sorry-ass husband problems, have to plan a meal now for 10 PM...) so such is my life. Oh well, it is what it is. Not looking for pity!!!

Ruby just got off the phone with my Dad--he says he feels better than he has in five years. I got him to take digestive enzymes and use a natural throat spray to stop sucking on peppermints all day long. Hope that lasts. There's more involved but it's a good start. Thanks for asking.
